Yes they were. SEC bylaws say to play in the SEC you have to meet NCAA eligibility requirements. Chambliss does not meet them.

The entire federal court case is built around the premise that you drove it all behind the scenes.
Whether that’s true or not remains to be seen but I suspect disclosure is going to make it pretty apparent what happened.

Surely the SEC suit would be stronger if it was determined that more schools did the same thing involving 30 former players and their rule wasn't to single out ONE university but all in the conference.

Why would LSU get involved with a bunch of non football players and kids going to other schools? Wouldn't their players just file their own suit?
If LSU was coordinating this, how would they even get connected with the other kids?

The specific rule passed to stop Nick Saban is the 2018 NCAA Former Player Practice Ban.
Prior to this rule, Saban took advantage of a loophole in NCAA Bylaw 14.2.1.6, which allowed former student-athletes to participate in organized practice sessions on an "occasional basis".
Saban weaponized this rule to build a dominant scout team. For example, he brought back former Alabama stars like quarterback Blake Sims to emulate Clemson's Deshaun Watson, and running back Trent Richardson to simulate LSU's Leonard Fournette.
The Rule Change
Frustrated by Alabama’s competitive advantage, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sponsored a proposal to shut it down. In April 2018, the NCAA Division I Council officially voted to ban all former athletes from participating in practices at both the FBS and FCS levels.

With the way social media is these days, all it takes is for one player to do something and it spreads like wildfire. I'm not saying that LSU is responsible for all the athletes suing, but it started with one or two. How do you think a class action suit gets started?

You have to be a little "slow". All it takes is the TWO players LSU recruited and coerced to spread the word in what they're about to do and what do you know, now there's 300.

Typically, the attorneys solicit the plaintiffs in class action suits.

If they had proof they would have sued LSU directly for it. Instead they buried it in legalese and tried to cover it under “recruiting” so they can go on a fishing expedition.
