There’s a reason the state of Texas in general has struggled with relevancy. Arrogant in mediocrity is a hard position to rise from.

Do you contest that the more liberal an entity or university the less emphasis will be put on football? If so, wow

Revenue plays a far bigger role in schools like Stanford and the Ivys which are extremely liberal they'll usually place more on academics more so in regards to the Ivys. Of course that has to do with history and tradition and these schools being seen as elite academic schools.

You trying to correlate the political views of a university to the quality of it's football program is just asinine paranoia.

Texas and USC aren't doing terrible because liberals they're doing terrible because their coaches are garbage and can't recruit. Schools like Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State are still pretty liberal and they do just fine.

Also I love how we only focus on football and not any of the other sports. Can't let any of those pesky things disrupt the narrative

Would Bama/LSU/Georgia/Florida have kept Clay Helton as HC for this long with the on the field production? And the entire pac 12 basically didn’t have a season last year, some teams played like 5 games and there were no fans etc. None of that is political though or has any influence on the product put on the field right?

Why would I be paranoid about what I am stating? I am not a Texas fan. It works out great for me

Missouri doesn’t belong in the equation due to one key data point:

They’ve never been championship level.

No none of it is political holy shite, I bet you're the same type of person that whines about BLM in the NBA or NFL because it's mixing sports and politics but then you go and take something that isn't political at all and turn it into one because you want a reason to bitch and moan on the internet

Austin is a liberal city, no question.

UT has a very liberal reputation. However, almost half of the undergrads are in the Business & Engineering Colleges, which tend to be very conservative. The Lib side gets most of the press, (surprise!, surprise!) but the conservative base is the foundation of the University.

The business/legal side of the equation controls the Endowment, PUF (land, oil & money) and the Administration. They do that pretty well.

There is a focus on the Football & Basketball programs, about the only things on campus that don't perform at the 90+ percentile. I betting they get that shite fixed.

Previous administrations have set the program back significantly with their indifference towards sports but this one is completely different. I wouldn't trade them for anybody in the country and I fully believe you will see a culture change. They want to win and they will do just about anything to make that happen. Plenty of reasons for other fanbases to be skeptical of that but y'all are going to be sorely disappointed if you think we're coming in here and going 7-5 or 6-6 every year.

I believe that texsa will be back. Just like OU lost focus at the top for the 90s which spilled into 10 years ago, which arguably kept them from working with the SEC then, texsa had a long period where people like DeLoss were more about exerting power than excellence in choosing coaches.

They appear to be on the right track now and I expect them to get better. Their challenge, imo, will be patience. The last 10-15 years has changed where kid are asking "what will you do for me now". And the revolving door of coaches has put them a place that I believe will take them 2 or so years to fix. Hiring good coaches does not cure a series of not-so-good coaches over night.

OU took 2 years for Stoops to clean up the mess, and just so happened to be able to do that, when the SEC was in a bit of a dip. To do it in less than 2-3 years takes a lot of things to fall in place. Some in your control and some . . . not so much

Acknowledging you suck is part of the process of improving. They will never do that. Sark is a mediocre head coach. already proved that.

You taking snippets of my post is disingenuous as hell. I said “basically” didn’t have a season, a team in their championship game had played like 5 games, and there were zero fans allowed

Listen, they won’t be able to insulate the football program from campus culture forever. The student body and faculty is what makes them who they are.

Their donor pool now is large and healthy, but it will age out in the next couple decades or so. Their millennial grads and younger simply will not care anywhere near as much as the Gen X and Baby Boomers have. It’s just a matter of time before the football program is an afterthought, and it will be by choice.

Put BAMA or tOSU in the middle of the BIG 12 - 4, and have everyone in every other conference negative recruit against them including ESPN and every news outlet and see how well they do...That is what Texas has been dealing with the last 10 years with really crappy coaching to boot..

ESPN has wanted Texas in the SEC for years now because of their investment, and they would do anything to sabotage them and make them make a move..

Correct, which is why they've been massively underachieving for so long and will continue to do so.
