Saban was still building and improving when he left. He probably would have picked up a couple of more titles as well and would probably still have about the same total number had he stayed at lsu.

TWO "probably"s in one sentence...yep, you got it all figured out.

Well, I mean it's impossible to say and just guessing.

Suppose my best guess is he would have 7 right now if he had stayed at lsu.

Saban is the greatest, the guy from OU and some of those ND coaches (Leahy, Rockne, Parseghian) were arguably as good as the Bear.

no, they weren't

I certainly think so. I've found myself with a serious case of the Stockholm Syndrome regarding Bama lately. It doesn't help that I am a friggin Saban lover since 2000. I mean that sumbitch made my mama cry on Christmas, but just one time of listening to him get sideways with a silly reporter with a silly question and I love him yet again. Even caught myself yelling Roll Tide when I jerked off my neighbor's dog the other day.

Nah, but he might have as many as he does now. Depends on who Bama would have hired, among other things.

Louisiana is loaded with talent yearly, he would have continued to rake in top classes and he's a great head coach. I do think that despite his lackluster NFL stint, it still built up some extra mystique about him, and made him a better coach overall. Coming from there to Bama was the perfect storm.

Bama just got Saban in his peak of greatness. If he would have stayed at LSU he would have won at least 5 more titles in 06,07,11,12, and with one more coming in 10, 13 or 15.

Well, I think he would most likely have 2 more championships than he does not if he had stayed at LSU. He was still building the program when he left and each team was stockpiling more talent than the last. The team he left for miles in 2006 was the most talented LSU team ever. No reason to think he would not have won in 2006 and 2007. Then he would really have had it rolling and pulled #1 recruiting classes yearly like he did at bama. Louisiana produces many more D1 players than bama and he absolutely had a fence around the state. Add in the national recruiting he would have done after the 2006 and 2007 seasons, and there is no telling how many championships he puts together. 2008 would have been doubtful the way UF was playing with tebow after the ole miss game. But 2009, yeah, probably #4.

Hell, he might have 8 titles right now had he stayed at LSU. Seriously, it is possible he would have 8 now. I don't see why he wouldn't have won a title the same years he won one at bama, 09, 11, 12, 15, 17. Throw in 06 and 07 too, you are looking at 8.

Not really...this is from 2016

Well he took a different approach to recruiting when he
returned from the NFL.He didn't have the multiple "analyst" and talent evaluators at LSU and he credits
his time in the NFL for the process. He completely revolutionized CFB recruiting when he returned to Bama.

I am named after Bear Bryant. Even so I have to admit that had Knute Rockne not died in an airplane crash at the height of his career or if Leahy had not been plagued with health problems Notre Dame may have dominated 20th century college football.

Could you imagine the sport we all love under the pernicious grasp of those beady-eyed, leprechaun loving, shamrock swilling, Blarney Stone kissing, tater eating bastards? It is almost too horrible to contemplate.

Alabama football-

1) Most National Titles of any Div-1 team
2) Second in all-time wins on the field, only behind Michigan who started in 1879 (Alabama started in 1892)
3) A winning record over every team Alabama has played 10 or more times, and is the only school that can say that fact.
(yes, Bama is 1-7-1 against Texas, but that is 9 games, when they play again that stat is void, or moves to 11
4) Most #1 vs #2 match-ups in National Title games where Alabama is 6-3 (Alabama is #1 in each of those categories)
5) Has a winning record over the top 13 winningest schools and has played them 386 times....... no other team has played them more......
side note- 5 of those top 13 are original SEC members.......
6) Since 1920, Alabama has won at least 1 National Title every decade except the 1950's and 1980's...... 7 out of 9 decades

Getting topic back on the tracks, on Jan 4 2007, Saban's intro speech, I was working in Tenn, so me being a Bammer man I took a lot of insults with the last 10 yrs of mediocrity my team was in. That day as we were all on break at work they were saying Bama can't keep a good coach they'll run him off! I said this will be different. Y'alls run of success on us will soon be over. May not be this coming season but he is a relentless recruiter & after 2 great classes the continued losses to Tenn,LSU,Arky,& Auburn will end & a Championship will come within 3 or 4 yrs. Tenn & Arky have come close a time or 2 but still hasn't beaten Saban at BAMA. He's got 5 titles at Bama & he wants the overall record & more.

Of course you are going to say that. And if Saban had stayed at LSU and done what he's doing now at Bama, you wouldn't be saying he's greater or as good as the Bear either.

Impressive levels of delusion here. Paid a family $140K. That's hard money to hide. Got the uncle a "brand new investment job" in Atlanta (yeah, b/c decision makers are happy to hire people to handle client's money with zero experience).

You tell a flat lie - something you or some other whack made up - but you sprinkle in some "details" to try to make it seem believable. But it isn't.

As for your comments about the REC, you don't know what you're talking about. The REC is the boogeyman to you, but in reality it is an organization of multiple chapters and THOUSANDS of members. You can't have organized cheating at the level you think exists with that many people involved and it NOT leak. The REC does a lot of things and it is possible (probable, even, just like boosters of all schools) that some of their members step outside the lines with cash to kids/families, but it is not some organized and structured cheating.

Fact is, Tut, Bama is just better than your team. It's always been that way. All the excuse making in the world won't change that.

He, and a couple of others just won't/can't accept that fact. I guess if they did, they'd have to rethink their perception of the LSU program and they just can't bring themselves to that point...sad.

I am not so sure about that. If Coach Saban stayed at LSU, and had won like he is at Alabama, we would recognize greatness. But would Alabama fans call him GOAT?

Even now there is a debate among Alabama fans as to what the criteria should be, given the different conditions in the eras, to whether CNS or CPB is the better GOAT, but what has been established is there has not been two better coaches ever in college football.....

By the way, IMO Coach Saban........

It certainly is debatable. Everything is debatable. If you can debate John Wooden in basketball, you can debate any.
