They’ll lose four games. They’ll extend Beamer.

NO
They will become bowl eligible..... but they are simply not a top tier program.

Are you aware Ray Tanner is no longer the AD?
The new AD from TCU, Jeremiah Donati, has already fired former LSU baseball coach, Paul Mainieri (a CWS Championship coach) for lackluster results. He brings renewed hope that if Beamer fails, there is a solid plan in place. In fact, many are already touting his influence in “encouraging” Beamer to hire Kendal Briles as the new OC as well as a new OL coach and RB coach.
All that to say, we hope ridiculous extensions are a thing of the past.

Sellers got figured out last year

I see 7 teams on their schedule that could reasonably be expected to beat South Carolina. Probably 5 will be favored, maybe all seven. Anything's possible, but they have a rough path to the playoffs.

Now we’re talking!
SC is “not a top-tier team,” teams have “figured out Sellers,” and they have a tough path to the CFP.
All true.
And, you all forgot, we have a new OC (the 3rd for Sellers), a new OL coach (terrible OL last year), and a new RB coach who has very little to work with in his first year.

I like Briles, and think that should help Sellers a lot.
but South Carolina always seems able to frick things up.

That honestly wasn't intended to be a slap at your Gamecocks. By my count you have 43 former 4 star HS recruits on roster, which is normally good enough enough to beat just about anybody on any given day. But, despite all the handwringing, the SEC is still loaded with talent and you play a lot of teams with more talent, at least on paper.
As we now know, the transfer portal can produce some surprising results. The odds of making the playoffs are low, IMO, but you have a better chance to do the unexpected than historical outcomes would predict.

3 offensive starters returning other than Sellers. One O-lineman starter returning to team. O-line will have 0 offensive starts as a unit together and Ourlads web site has transfers for SC 5 O-line starters. I can understand the lack of hype.

It would be one hell of a quick turn around for a lot of new coaches trying to plug some holes in the roster to make the CFP. I think Beamer needs to deliver this season or he might just find himself on the unemployment line.
I think 'Cocks get bowl eligible but I'm not sure that cools Beamer's seat off any.

Would they fire Beamer for 7-5?

In the past, no, they wouldn’t. They’d give him an extension.
Most Gamecock fans that I’ve talked to feel he’s safe winning 7, or even 6, games. Only Donati knows the real answer.

No offense taken. I’m being somewhat sarcastic in my posts but also realistic. I don’t expect fans from other teams to get all giddy about the Gamecocks. They have their own teams to follow. (LSU just better beat Clemson, is all we ask!)
Be that as it may, many Gamecocks like Beamer, and if he can produce, good for him. But most would also say that he’s on the hot seat this year.

Yeah, that's not really what happened. 1. Rocket Sanders left and we had no real viable replacement. 2. Our O-line was awful. It' couldn't run block or pass block. 3. Mike Shula
