Is Auburn a much better SEC campus than Alabama? Absolutely
Posted on 12/17/25 at 8:56 am to JamalMurry27
No.
Jordan Hare, the Swamp, and Death Valley are the three loudest stadiums in the SEC when at full throttle.
With that said, I went to Norman this year and it got very loud in the 4th quarter when playing Auburn.
I imagine with it being a night playoff game it’s going to be as loud as it gets for them.

Actually think OU and Bama are very comparable, even though Bama fans have been much more spoiled recently with Saban. Both fanbases are used to winning and dominating their conference, so you get a lot of high expectations from people who don’t feel like they need to make noise to help the team win, as well as a bit of arrogance that blue blood fans tend to have over other fanbases. I see similar complaints about old people sitting on their hands from both Bama and OU fans.
Having said all that, both fanbases can get very loud when the moment or opponent is right. But they won’t be consistently as loud as the less successful programs who are known for it.

Being to both this year, Auburn was noticeably louder. I dont think it is a stadium issue. OU fans just aren't that hardcore. They are very much like Texas fans.

OU was down 19-3 at halftime in that game... kinda makes a difference

The fans were exceedingly nice at OU! I didn't know what to expect but they were nice everywhere we went. Maybe they felt sorry for us due to our 1968 junior high offense. Their offense wasnt that good but at least they were going for it.

My ex wife worked for an alum season ticket holder so we got to go to several games a year, second deck 50 yard line. There was always an older couple next to us and this lady always brought a book to read and would hold her ears every time the crowd got loud. One game I'd had enough so I yelled extra loud every chance I got. They didn't come back after half time. If you don't like the noise and want to read a book stay home and give your tickets to someone else

If the Sooner defense is facing a goal to go especially in the north end of the field the offense won't be able to hear anything over the noise the crowd will make in that situation.

I'd say it's probably more comparable to Bama's.
Even through all the bullshite, AU fans still manage to take it to a level higher. Don't know how or why, but props. My last in-person game was Prayer, but I had a damn good migraine on the way back to Lake Martin.

OU stadium is not loud.
I was there a few weeks ago for the LSU game. That was a close, must win game in order to make the playoff and it never got close to loud during pivotal moments of the game.
It was so noticeable that we even commented during those pivotal moments how disappointing the stadium atmosphere was.
My seats were in the lower bowl north endzone.

Very skewed when you play your best opponent at a neutral site every year.
No way as loud as Auburn.

Somewhere there is a list of max db per stadium ….but probably garbage data how could it be measured at the optimum time ????
The important thing is to affect the other team while need to communicate

I don't know about Auburn but I went to Tuscaloosa this year and I can saw without a doubt OU is louder than Alabama.

Alabama players last season were told to prepare for the stadium wall in Norman being a short distance behind Alabama's bench, something Brown also noted Tuesday.
"Stands, they right up on the benches," he said.
Wide receiver Ryan Williams last week called the proximity of the fans in Oklahoma, "definitely different than a lot of other stadiums," but added, "It has its perks and benefits, depending on which side of the game you're on."
Last season's game had a listed kickoff temperature of 62 degrees, while this season the temperature is expected to be in the 40s.
"This time around we know it's gonna be cold," Bernard said.
But aside from all of the environmental factors, Alabama players know they need to play better than either of their losses to Oklahoma the past two seasons.

My only time visiting Norman was last year for the Bama game. Even at its loudest, it was nothing to what I’ve heard at Jordan-Hare, Death Valley, or Neyland. I’d say it’s comparable in noise to Bryant-Denny or Reynolds years ago when Arkansas was good.

Hard for anyone to get too excited when it's 77-0 in the 3rd quarter

This is mild for a December night in Oklahoma, lucky its not in the 20's.
