Well I said liberal Democrat. I said two words so I was referring to both of them. I’m not speaking in some code where I only mean every other word I say.
But thanks for the elementary history lesson
You seemed a bit slow, so I tried to break it down Barney style for you.

The state Confederate Kentucky capital was in Bowling Green. The citizens and Governor of Kentucky voted to secede but the state legislature went against the citizens and chose to be neutral. Hence Kentucky is the 13th star on the battle flag

Then why did he let Republican governor Bentley have his box at Bryant-Denny Stadium to hold his election night victory party?....strange, isn't it?

There's a culture to the South that isn't really visible in Virginia.
As I presently live in Virginia, we'll agree to disagree. While it's true that NOVA is as "un-southern" as it gets, once you start getting into Spotsylvania County you start to see southern-ness take over. Obviously, the major cities like Richmond are going to be more diverse in culture and in thinking, but the smaller cities around that locale are just as southern as the ones you're apt to find in the Deep South.

We'll agree to disagree on this bud. Virginia, outside the greater DC area, is the South. Especially the southern and western portions.

No, Appalachian is very specifically the mountains of Appalachia. Mostly Scotch-Irish. Folks from North Georgia to Northeast Tennessee to Western Pennsylvania have a whole lot in common with each other.

A bit off topic and not trying to hijack your thread, but this is a great little story from Coach Saban about growing up in WVA
