I think Saban is like an old school new deal democrat like many would be in his age group from coal country. He's probably socially conservative to a point but he's not a reactionary in that regard...just like in football, he adapts with the times.

Well he's a Catholic, so odds are he's not very liberal in the social sense. But again, part of the reason he's successful is that he can read a room and adapt with the times. He's kinda guarded about this stuff, so you have to extrapolate by his charity actions and things he says about the players and such over time.

Yeah I see some folks that keep saying Saban is a Democrat but they don't have definitive proof of that. He's from West Virginia which is/was a an old "yellow dog" Democrat state due to many blue collar folks who worked the coal mines.
I don't think you can say West Virginia is "liberal" or blue state due to the simple fact the modern Democrat party is against most everything that state upholds including their livelihood. After all, WV went for DJT in the 2020 election
So Saban voting for a Democrat once or twice or supporting Joe Manchin does not make Saban a "liberal" Democrat at all.

Really?
Then why did he let Republican governor Bentley have his box at Bryant-Denny Stadium to hold his election night victory party?....strange, isn't it?

I wouldnt endorse my own sibling if they were a liberal democrat.

So he may or may not be a liberal democrat but he will politically endorse someone to affect peoples lives through policy cause they played dodgeball together.

If the the liberal part of that is what you're against, I've got some bad news for you:

Essentially every president since the end of World War II has been an economic liberal but only differ by degrees. Economic liberalism is essentially a cross-party consensus. Trump kinda campaigned in 2016 as a right populist but his handlers were center right liberals so nothing really changed in that regard. Sanders campaigned in 2016 and 2020 as a center left populist.

I'm pretty damn tired of people using liberal as a diatribe. It is literally the consensus ideology of the main body of each major party. Sure, the the GOP has some blood n' soil nationalists in their ranks. Sure, the DNP has some democratic socialists in their ranks. Neither exerts a great deal of control over what is really happening in this country. Mostly just bluster for whipping votes to maintain the bipartisan consensus.

Joe Manchin is the most moderate democratic senator up there. Much of his ideology would be/is acceptable to many republicans in Congress.

Where did Nick touch you?

I actually searched high and low and couldn't find anything indicating his political affiliation (which is good for such a well-known coach). Other than supporting his friend Manchin - which someone mentioned they've been friends forever.

And before you mention the BLM stuff over the summer, that's just plain being in touch with the pulse of the majority of the kids he coaches. Has nothing to do with his political affiliation.

I don't get the irrational hate for the guy on here.. even as an LSU fan. He's the GOAT.
