For all the bluster from LSU fans about money being no object, LSU has paid $77 million in buyouts the past 5 years. McMahon would make it $85 million.
LSU isn't going to buy him out.
If it happens, it'll have to be Shaq paying the buyout. He cares about the school and that basketball program more than anybody else on the planet (he's paid for the practice facility and led the fundraising for the basketball program since he went pro. Possibly LSU's biggest personal donor ever)
Question is this: is it worth paying the buyout right now? You only pay it because you know for a fact who the replacement is and he'll be successful.
Will Wade is the only coach that comes to mind who fits that profile and could get someone to pay $8 million.
That hire would definitely get fans back in the PMAC, but I don't think it would result in the promised land.

I’ve never seen somebody so obsessed with LSU. I mean Bama beats us most of the time in football, so there’s really no explanation for your obsession

With the amount of traffic and clicks Chicken is getting on this site from Alabama fans starting threads about LSU I hear he is gonna personally fund McMahon’s buyout in full and the first three years of salary for the new guy.

Apparently some of the boosters have said that they aren't just gonna jump to put up more money after what we just spent on football. That is unless the name is Will Wade, then there would be more interest.
