The quotes were way too funny to be true.

They sounded like something out of an old Doc Swole story.

I urge anyone to get on Facebook and find any local news article on this and sit back and enjoy the entertainment.

Did that very thing this morning. Was not disappointed

Most of the comments were the equivalent of this

I opened this thread thinking it was some kind of future Harry Potter Universe project.

Hey! I won’t have that kind of rhetoric in my thread. Calling the poster you were replying to that term is an insult to the mentally handicapped.

I dont think you guys get lol. In other states, they can take this up if they so desire or get sued [eventually[ but since most are Republican, it will just get done, when and how is the only question. With La. the SCOTUS just stated those maps are Unconstitutional, they will have to redraw the maps now.

No we get it. The maps have to be redrawn. The question is how to proceed when there’s currently a primary election for congressional seats going on in which mail in ballots have already been sent in and an early voting period starting Saturday.

Do you suspend/cancel the current and try to redraw the maps before session ends and move the congressional engagements back to a jungle primary that happens in November once the new maps are passed and nullify the mail in ballots that have already been sent in? Basically start over with a brand new election, districts, and qualifying dates.

If the congressional race has to go to jungle primary do you make the senate go back to that too? If you don’t you open the door for someone to potentially turn around and qualify to run for the congressional seat she was leaving if she doesn’t make the runoff in the senate race.

The SCOTUS ruled the district was unconstitutional there’s no going back on that but what happens if whatever fix Louisiana comes up with to follow the ruling and be able to get through this election cycle ends up getting challenged and holds the process up further?

This is could end up being a huge clusterfrick…. Not that that would be anything new or something unexpected from my home state

His life was pretty much the perfect country and western song.
I just go there for the nudes.

Does Purcell matter when the decision comes from the Supreme Court? I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest one way it can be done in Louisiana is for the Sec of State to ignore results on mail-in ballots with respect to votes cast for congressional seats (which are now considered unconstitutional); legislators can redraw district maps during the current regular session and establish new qualifying/election dates that align with fall elections. I don't see how a Supreme Court ruling on a Louisiana case specifically involving congressional maps can be ignored.

One thing I can almost promise you- whatever makes the most sense both legally and efficiently Louisiana will do the opposite of

We need the highest iq in Louisiana ultimate super lawyer sloflopro who is also a complete middle of the road politically ?? to comment

He can’t be bothered with trivial matters such as this. Not when there’s threads about special interests paying off Neo Nazis to tell them super secret information about them being white supremacists.

You’re gonna love it!
In regard to the current congressional primaries in Louisiana (and other states I guess but them acting on this would be a stretch I think)can anything really be done about CD 6 this year? Other districts were redrawn some based on CD6 and mail in ballots have already started being filled out and mailed. Can they really suspend the election until a map is re-drawn or swap back to an old school jungle primary in November if they choose to redraw but can’t before the primary is over in 3 weeks? I know the Purcell Doctrine essentially says no rule changes this close to an election but does a SCOTUS ruling on the legality of a map qualify as a rule change?

As much as it sucks seems like the path of least resistance at this point is to let it stand as is with decision that CD6 is dissolved and maps redrawn for 2028. Love the ruling, but damn the timing has created a potential clusterfrick at the moment.

Early voting starts Saturday. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Some mail in ballots have been sent in at this point too. I guess this falls under the Purcell principle maybe, I’m not sure if this qualifies as a “rules” change or not.

Voting starts in less than two weeks in AL. Qualifying etc already done for the districts as is. The fact that you thought that the legislature was going to up and redraw the maps in that time frame is on you, not the Governor.

Yep. Don’t really know how this is gonna work in Louisiana as mail in ballots for the current format have already been cast and sent in.
Seems like this where the Purcell Principle comes in play.

shite. They’re using this build their brand and swear up and down that it was them the shooter was after and that it was most likely because of Trump’s rhetoric towards the press and general hatred for certain parts of the First Amendment. They’re the real victims here and are literally fearing for lives now but they’ll gladly deal with it because they’re doing a service and fighting the good fight for their country.

Ah, The above the frey, both sides shite. You people are all the same

The correlation between when progs use this stance and when one of their own commits something they swear only the other side would do is definitely one hell of a data point.

I’ve been angry at the govt since as long as I can remember. Problem is people get so embedded in protecting their side that they don’t see the actual problem that their side (and the other side) is causing. Yet here we are defending a side because reasons. Yall can downvote me all you want but you’re only proving the point.

Both sides have plenty of faults. Only one side is actively trying to (and in some cases successfully) kill members and political leaders of the other. That side deserves to be called out for their bullshite and general frickery.
