So does he belong in the top 5?

In LSU history? Yes. In college football history? Not even close.

No, but he was very good. Top 15 - 20 for sure.

Maybe in the top 15-20. I liked Les, excellent coach but not top five. Maybe just outside the top ten at best.

You knew the answer was "no" before you even posted this.

Miles might not even be the greatest LSU coach of all time.

Oh, you think there's a chance someone "might" have done a little better at LSU, do you? I sure am struggling to think of one, I dunno about the rest of the guys around here.

If Nick Saban had stayed in the NFL, this would be a legit question. At least 3 Natties (2007, 2011, 2012).

Absolutely he is...in fact, he's #1 All-Time.

SEC Football Coaches with most vacated wins:

1. Les Miles - 37
2. Hugh Freeze - 27
3. Mike Shula - 16
4. Jeremy Pruitt - 11
5. Mark Stoops - 10

I think the 2012 natty goes to Georgia, personally.

Not at all. Keep hearing any coach can win a NC at LSU.

The only thing that kept Miles from winning a second NC to tie Urban's 2 in the SEC is sharing a division with Saban

Great let's apply this sterling logic to Kirby Smart, who was directly denied by Saban multiple times. Now he's got 3 more SECCGs (2018, 2021, 2023) 1 more natty (2017) and a puncher's chance at another (2023).

You can do this with the other coaches too...you are spinning like a hamster broski. Les Miles couldn't even get separation from Auburn in his day

So better than Bryant, Spurrier, and Saban?

Vince Dooley?
General Neyland?
Urban Cryer? More skins on the wall just a short tenure.
Shug Jordan?
Pat "Tie"Dye
if you include the two recent carpetbaggers:
Daryl Royal
Bud Wilkinson

LSU has had five better coaches than Les Miles, much less the SEC. This has to b e a joke. Tell us you are drinking heavily.

He's not even top 3 since he joined LSU.

Saban, Meyer, and Smart have more national titles and better winning % (88%, 81%, 85%) .

The reason I would deny him top 10 status despite his record is that didn’t build the program but maintained it and, to his credit, kept it going for 6 years, but then after 2011 fell apart.
