Which is why Saban has explained time and time and time again, his biggest professional regret was leaving college football, in general, and not specifically LSU.

He has said that coonasses have misconstrued the meaning of his words in a deceitful manner in an attempt to salve their burnt asses.

Why did Saban never publicly advocate for Kiffin to get the Alabama job when he retired like he did for Kiffin to get the LSU job?

This post has zero to do with the post you responded to

Saban never publicly advocated for Kiffin. Kiffin said Saban gave him advice privately.

One can't link to words; words are an ethereal fabrication that hold only meaning of which have been attached to them by the creator of those words.

Understand?

Both are less explosive than his first trip back to knoxville.

Kiffin was booed in Knoxville, and then people threw objects at him mid game

Good point, LSU fans aren’t as trashy as vol fans…they always reminded me of the West Virginia fans.

Tennessee fans handled Kiffin's return with all the class of a WWE SmackDown extravaganza. I do expect something similar for some reason.

Saban didn't directly leave LSU for Bama so I say yes.

This. No one was mad at Saban. Everyone was just disappointed in the situation. We had a good coach when Saban came back and had nothing to offer him. We didn't like that our former coach was going to Bama, because we knew he'd be successful there.

Ole Miss is like the tilted ex girlfriend in that country song breaking headlights in my car and shite.

It’s funny a TX fan knows more about Saban and LSU than anyone. The fact is LSU gave Saban the first crack at the SEC. LSU with Dinardo beat Saban’s Michigan ST team just a few years prior at the Independence Bowl . LSU saw potential and Saban saw potential in LSU. I know the false narrative is to believe Alabama discovered Saban. NOBODY on this rant has ever asked the question would Alabama ever hired Saban if he never coached at LSU and was successful? He was not successful at Michigan ST.

Saban didn't see Alabama as a an upgrade over LSU. Saban actually had better recruiting resources to build a team at LSU than Alabama. He, unfortunately, decided to go to the NFL and try his hand there. There wasn't as much bad blood towards Saban. To be fair, Tiger Stadium is going to be loud and difficult for any team/coach.

I just responded in another thread about his return.

People claim it to be more intense and crazy than it really was.

It was just a lot of booing. No violence. Nothing thrown on the field. No threats.

Just a lot of exclamation of displeasure with his life choices.

Yall seem to be forgetting that his first trip back was the season after we won the NC. Our coach at the time had the same accomplishments in his career that Saban had.

There was no reason for us to be spiteful

Yes. Saban's departure was quite a bit different. He won a title, went to the NFL where it didn't work out and came back to college. He didn't really do much to anger LSU fans other than simply leaving. He didn't insult them on the way out the door. He didn't drag LSU through the ringer. It was a normal departure that has happened regularly (Spurrier and Pete Carroll come to mind.

Lane's departure was none of that. He dragged it out, called everyone racist and since it was a direct departure for another college rather than the NFL there is the perception, right or wrong that he "raided the cupboard" on the way out. Saban wasn't the polarizing figure Lane is and if we are being honest this wasn't even his messiest departure (That would be Tennessee).

Yes, this is far different

Yet , I remember many people in my section cheering for Saban at his introduction. There was (believe it or not) a debate on the Tiger Rant if he should get a cheer when introduced. I'm not saying LSU fans weren't supremely BUTTHURT, but this current Kiffin thing is NUCLEAR HATRED.

I expect LSU fans to be hospitalized. It's fever pitch. Saban himself has said this is a new level. As long as it's not violent-it's cool.

Way more explosive. Saban left LSU for the NFL and his old job wasnt available when he returned to CFB. Saban also won us a NC, and left in place a system that allowed another championship after he left. Ole Miss has won 0 championships, were publicly embarrassed when their HC reminded them of their little brother status and bolted for in conference rival LSU, and their program does not have much to look forward to as they rebuild, clinging to the 6th year QB their old coach discovered and developed.
