There is no way- I repeat- NO WAY that BK would be hopping on flights at the last minute trying to close on a top tier recruit. He'd send an assistant, at best.

We can clearly see the difference already when it comes to recruiting, alone. The energy level with Kiffin is vastly different. They are not the same guy.

Kelly came to LSU because he believed he couldn’t win at Notre Dame. Ironically his successor eventually made it to the NC 2 years later.

I must have missed Marcus Freeman's national title or reaching a title game a 2nd time to get one more appearance over Kelly.

Final CFP Rankings at Notre Dame:

Marcus Freeman
2025 - #11
2024 - #5
2023 - #16
2022 - #21

Brian Kelly:
2021 - #5
2020 - #4
2019 - #15
2018 - #3

Yes. You are 100% correct. Pay no attention to the sinking ship that is Alabama. Just make threads about LSU.

So yes or no?

Yes, of course. Alabama has the most playoff appearances and playoff wins of any program, ever. So yes, of course they will.

Fact of the day: Alabama has made the college football playoffs 9 times more than LSU. Yes, you read that correctly. Alabama has made the playoffs 9X more than LSU.

The question is will LSU ever make their second playoff appearance?

Why is it doubtful that LSU ever makes another playoff appearance?

Final AP polls. Somehow you got your numbers completely wrong.

quote:

Marcus Freeman

2025 - #10
2024 - #2
2023 - #14
2022 - #18

Brian Kelly:

2025 - not ranked
2024 - not ranked
2023 - #13
2022 - #16

Why is it so much harder to win at LSU?

I didn't get numbers wrong.

I used college football playoff rankings at end of the regular season because playoff format was different for both coaches at Notre Dame.

It was to highlight that Freeman is not achieving any higher level of success at Notre Dame than Kelly did and has just been the beneficiary of the new 12 team playoff.

Because you have not done it. You have never made a second appearance. Even with rosters chock full of NFL talent. Even with a Heisman winning QB. Even with the #1 ranked portal class. Even with a perennial top ten roster. Even with a $100 million dollar coach. Even with the winningest active coach in college football. Even with Todd Graves making deals with the devil. Even with all the shite talking here. None of it has gotten LSU to the playoffs for a second time.

Kelly failed to build relationships with high school coaches, players and boosters. He was a smug yankee that had zero personality. Lane is the exact opposite of BK.

That might be true but I believe that LSU can and will make another CFP appearance despite past history.

an average of 5 losses per season.
Congrats on being a game better than the team that fired their coach for not getting it done, I guess.

Bama's days of politicking their way into the playoffs should be over after getting embarrassed this year in their 2 biggest games of the year and also losing 2 other games to finish with another 4 loss season.

I think this is probably true of everyone, except maybe Cignetti.

If I'm being honest, I probably miss this most about Saban (well, that and the trophies, obviously).

We always blew out unranked opponents and there were only a couple of games a year where we might lose. Now it feels like it's a nailbiter every week unless we're playing a G5 or FCS team. Those teams were methodical in their demolition and it didn't matter if you were 10-0 or 0-10, the team took everyone seriously.

Really gets under the tiger fan skin that all their best coaches view their school as a stepping stone

LSU fans are coming off a 7-6 season and their 4th unranked season in the past 6.

Yet they are talking more shite than all other fanbases here combined.

They are the undisputed champions of next season every season.

The man hasn't coached his first game at LSU, so who knows.

Yet DeBust has coached what, 2yrs at bama and everyone already knows.... he's no Saban.
