Yeah, it was no secret Joe C and Chris DC were working together to gtfo of Big 12.

Oklahoma has retained great executive relationships with the SEC since 2011 at the highest levels, because we were approached about joining by the SEC executive offices when the BIG XII was melting down.

texsa had no executive relationships with the SEC, because it was never an avenue they were interested in.

It was Oklahoma who approached texsa about making the jump together because we were going one way or the other. Those negotiations took place in complete secrecy at the President, BOR, and AD levels. That's why the announcement came out of nowhere and took everybody by surprise.

I wonder if the now coast to coast nature of the Big10 would be a draw or a drawback. For every sport but football, that’s a brutal schedule for a Texas team.

OU could have joined SEC without Texas, for that matter.

With who as a travel partner? Kansas? Because OSU would be a hard no.

According to ChatGPT, Mizzou would be a better fit in B1G.

All 4 relate to geography. Somebody needs to teach ChatGPT that the B1G (not Big 10) now has 4 teams on the west coast and 3 teams on the east coast, and the historical geographical configuration no longer applies.

Oh, and we are quite happy in the SEC, so GFY and DIAF.

Why would we do that? UTrans would just follow us in a few years. I think we have learned who is obsessed with whom.

You're not jealous because we signed. You're jealous because the whole thing made Aggie look 2nd tier.

Because we all know Aggie would have turned down the Aggie Network, if offered by ESPN.

Just drop it - this is the toxic bitterness that keeps your program eternally out of championships. And you can't help yourselves. You're just eat up with it.

I think most rational folks knew that ESPN screwed up mightily with the Longhorn Network concept and terms. It is one of many very poorly thought out concepts of that time that have been subsequently rolled back and resulted in red ink and layoffs at the network. Whatever team there that put the deal together vastly overestimated the Brand power of Longhorn athletics.

I don't blame the Longhorn Athletic Department for quickly jumping at it either. If a third party is willing to overpay to the degree offered by ESPN at the time, you have to take it.

But I also know deep down in many Longhorn fans hearts that they actually believed they were some sort rare commodity and they would finally stand alongside Notre Dame as a truly independent brand that could levitate over more average teams.

But then no cable networks would actually carry the thing.

And then the bell cow football content slipped into unranked, Charlie Strong level underperformance for a long period of time.

It was a hilarious farce to most everyone.

Back to reality.

Sometimes I have to double check on Wikipedia to see if Missouri is even in the conference or if this was just a weird dream.

I'm not going to insult Mizzou or its fans, but this is true.

Going into baseball regional play, I remember thinking about it. We have 16 teams, 13 made it in. Vandy won the conference tourney. LSU is #1. Florida had a big midseason run. Bama quietly won 40 games. Tennessee defending champs, etc... everyone has been good recently.
Ok, 3 didn't make it. A&M cratered and couldn't recover. South Carolina, a Paul Manieri disaster, that program deserves better. Who's the 3rd team that didn't go?

It took me a good few minutes before "oh yeah. Missouri"
I just couldn't remember them being an SEC team.

Uh, not at all. The bullshite with the LHN is what allowed us to go to the SEC without all the political games yall had to play to make the same move.

We basically won the 2011 conference realignment championship thanks to your hubris, which put a permanent moat between us and programs like Tech, Baylor, TCU, etc.

So thanks.

NAW NAW NAW hold uppppppp u crawdad-suckin bayou buffoon
u sayin MIZZOU don’t belong in the SEC???
BUDDY we been SEC since the first cannonball hit Fort Sumter and ole cousin Ezekiel said “hold muh possum, it’s gettin’ SERIOUS.”

Yeh ok, we “officially” joined in 2012 but spiritually???
we BEEN here since 18-forever, swingin’ at jayhawks wif a shovel and one functional boot.
we was fightin kansas in the rain wif no socks on while y’all down in Louisiana was still tryin to figure out how to spell “Geaux Tigers” without eatin the crayon.

LSU fans out here actin like SEC football some kinda fine wine.
NO.
It’s a cooler full of Busch Light(made in the lou btw), a raccoon in the bleachers, and a tattoo of General Lee on a calf the size of a chicken bucket.

Mizzou fits the SEC like gravy on a gas station biscuit.
We don’t show up loud—we show up LURKIN.
Like a Confederate ghost that smells like gasoline and wet deer jerky.

U say “nobody would notice if Mizzou left.”
Well nobody notices their appendix either ‘til it explodes and ruins Thanksgiving.
That’s us. We the appendix of the SEC.
Unwanted, unexplained, but ABSOLUTELY gonna ruin your season.

Texas?? Nah bro, that’s just an oil spill wearin shoulder pads. and a liberal hellhole that is austin
OU?? Discount Alabama.
But MIZZOU? We got kids on scholarship who can throw a hay bale 40 yards and call that offseason training.

Our mascot ain’t a tiger, he’s a spirit of vengeance summoned every time someone disrespects our BBQ or the memory of General Sterling Price.

So yeah, y’all can keep talkin trash but come November, when y’all down there cryin into your jambalaya wonderin how a team from a state shaped like a baked bean just knocked you outta bowl eligibility
just remember:
We may not BELONG here,
but we ain’t GOIN NOWHERE.

M! I! Z! you crawfish-eatin cotton-brained BOURBON SWAMP WIZARD
now git back to chokin on that gator tail and leavin voodoo curses on Nick Saban’s hair gel.

I'm sorry, where do you see the Notre Dame network? What channel?

Secondly - the high school content (which got yanked because jealous children started crying) is what killed the thing. I knew it was doomed when it never got off the ground as intended. People aren't going to watch Longhorns 24/7. However - the State of Texas just indeed might watch Longhorns plus Texas High School content 24/7. But it was not to be.

For the record - I was never in favor of LHN, but it is my duty now to argue in defense of my school signing the contract. You have allowed that argument, so I appreciate that.

And therein lies the Aggie toxin. False elitism. There is no "moat" between Aggie and Baylor, Tech, TCU, etc. This is why said schools hate Aggie as much or more than Texas. (especially Tech) It's the unfounded elitism. And it's also why Texas pisses you off so much. Because you're not even arguably better than Texas, and it eats you alive.

Weren’t the stats on their cross country games last year not good? As in the traveling team had a huge disadvantage?

Can’t imagine a 4+ hour flight, 3 time zone jump is conducive to peak athletic performance

Hopefully the SEC has worked out the trade they proposed to the AAC. LSU for Tulane is a fair trade for everyone. The sticking point seems to be that the AAC is demanding the SEC throw in a thousand mops to clean up all the puke from the incoming Tiger fans.

There's been a lot of chatter about A&M headed to the Big 10. Aggy doesn't belong in the SEC plus their higher ups are NOT happy sharing another conference with UTexas. Don't forget that the Big 10 desperately wants a foothold in the Texas market.

Expect the Big10 to make a big offer in the next 2 years and for A&M to pounce on it.
