Football is the king sport in the SEC, and Alabama is the king of college football and has been for quite a while. The only way to really stop Alabama is to lie and make up charges to get Alabama sanctioned (does any rational person think Auburn wins 6 straight against Alabama without the sanctions?)

So LSU can talk about their baseball titles, Arkansas can talk about their track titles, Georgia can talk about their gymnastic titles, Auburn can talk about their national titles in equestrian, etc. but it is Alabama that leads the SEC in the only sport that matters to all the universities (except Kentucky, of course)

Geez! At least you gave another team credit for something. We get it dude! Football is the only thing that matters over there. Everything else in life follows right?

The success would be there just not at this rate. With another coach, there might be a National Championship but no way would there be 5 in 9 years!! They would likely have several of the 10 win seasons though. Outside of JB Whitworth and the Pole Dancer Mike Price, every coach in UA history has won at least 10 games in a season. That includes limp wrist Dennis Francione, bumbling Mike Dubose and incompetent Mike Shula.

we own LSU in all three major sports, maybe you should follow our lead

I know a lot of Gump's don't think sports exist outside of college football but here's a little perspective on the world outside of the state of Alabama...

NCAA Division 1 National Championships

Arkansas - 43
LSU - 42

Florida - 35

Georgia - 30

Alabama - 17
Tennessee - 16

By the way, how are y'alls professional teams doing over there in the state of Alabama?

Oh. Sorry to hear that.

I lived in Jackson Ms. for about 4 years, do not tell me that football does not matter in Mississippi even though y'all suck at it.

Alabama has won national titles in other sports as well, by the way.

Birmingham was offered and turned it down. But seeing how the professional teams around the south suck, maybe it was a good thing.....

True story- My family in Louisiana did not bother to go to the Super Bowl when the Saints played in it (and trust me, they could afford it.) That tells me all I need to know about the "professional teams" in the south....

You can recruit well and still suck. Just ask Tennessee and Texas. So there's no question that Saban has an impact.

I think without Saban, Alabama's recruiting would have stayed on par with the other blue chip programs around the country. With compitant coaching, they'd be Ohio State level good where they're in the mix, but not always making it to the end.

Now, after Saban, they will be self sustaining for a very long time unless they royally frick up their next hire.

So hold on to your butts. Saban has a lot of time left and his leaving probably won't mean much.

Absolutely not win at this level without him. History shows that, outside of coach Bryant, Bama had been good but never this kind of good.

Really no one has.... teams might have a stretch of 4-5 years, but then fall down (even Alabama did, 1961-1966 did great, 1967-1970 no so much)

Leahy in the 40s was pretty dang good too. Probably would of had more success if not for WW2.

they average like nine wins a year over their history, better than anyone else in the league but also not this unreal level of dominance

the program has history, but so do other programs. Saban is the X factor, he is the greatest coach to ever walk a sideline in the college game.

Saban nor Bama was racking up 5*s nor #1 classes before. As far as proof, the media covered every time some player or their family admitted or showed off something suspicious they got. Bama also fired 2 coaches for paying players under Saban and Fluker flat out admitted he broke the rules all without any real punishment while OM got nailed.

That coupled with the fact Bama spent nearly 20 straight years on probation for cheating before Emmert let them off makes it even more likely that they still are.

Well we have to have a good coach. We've had 3 great ones (Wade, Bryant, Saban). And we've had 2 very good ones in between them (Thomas, Stallings). We'll have another great coach after Saban but it might be 20+ years. In the mean time we'll probably have a very good one in the middle somewhere. That's my expectation- for history to repeat.

Oh. Sorry to hear that.

And despite all of that, you are supremely triggered that Louisiana St8 Football fricking sucks compared to Bama Football.
