The Iron Bowl did nothing for them. This win puts them in first in the SEC.

Yeah I think we were more glad about that game than they were

If they make it far in the tournament again this year, then I'd have to say yea.

No, and I say it for the same reasons we tols Gator fans to chill the hell out when y'all were winning with Billy D.

Your fans dont care. Not really. If you did youd fill it up regularly even when youre bad. Not just show up when Kentucky is in town and maybe a few other games.

As long as Pearl is there Auburn will be solid and their fans will be engaged. But the moment he leaves theyll be back to what theyve always been and so will their fan base.

Its easy to be engaged when the times are good in non football sports. Even UK puts 60-70K in stands for football, a supposed basketball school. But in everything else, most places dont fill unless the team is doing good. There are a few exceptions.

Arkansas is the one school who consistently puts butts in seats in good and bad times for basketball. Tennessee has as well. Mississippi State perhaps a bit less so. Beyond that everyone else is fairweather. South Carolina's fan base is one I believe can and would be consistently there if their results were consistently fair to good.

But no. The reality is Auburn, Georgia, and Ole Miss are the 3 worst basketball programs in this conference all told. Auburn is years, hell decades away of being a basketball school.

I'm sorry guy, but UK couldn't be the only "basketball school" in the league forever.

I know Tennessee has had good attendance over the years, but I continue to contend that Kentucky and Arkansas are the only SEC fanbases that really care about basketball.

You went on a rant while holding back tears about how Auburn isn't a "real basketball school" - despite the fact that Auburn has outperformed Kentucky for over a year now.

That’s kind of the whole point of his rant

Just about every SEC school has had a stretch of good basketball where their fans are really energized and show up in numbers, but for the most part they could not really care less. Winners bring out the enthusiasm. The care is only sustained at a few places in the SEC.

didn't read a thing past here because this shows me you don't know a damn thing about Auburn basketball.

The care is sustained at Kentucky because they are almost always competitive to some extent. I guarantee if they went through some of the extended down stretches that other programs have gone through they'd be in the same boat.

There’s more sodium in this post than American Chinese fast food. It’s also wrong AF. During the dark days of AU basketball, you’d be correct in saying we only showed up for UK and Bama. But now, getting a ticket for any SEC game and even the majority of non-conference games is hard and can get rather expensive.

When going to see Furman or Lipscomb cost $133 for standing room only in December...I’d say our culture has changed into a basketball school. I’d say our fanbase is more engaged in basketball than most most in the country save the traditionals...I can’t speak for UF in the early 2000s but I wonder what level of interest they had and how it compares to our program today.

Bama white out, Florida black out

We are becoming a premier road team with UK as the super bowl on the road!

I know several AU fans going to Rupp this year...we had 2-3K in Starkville...tons in Tuscaloosa. Bought up the UGA tickets next Wednesday...not sure what else needs to be done minus sustained longevity of support.

Bruce has made it get to a level where our next coach will be a desired job.

For a second I'm going to forget I'm on the rant and give an honest answer. What you are asking in reality can't be answered until after Pearl is gone. If we maintain success and fan enthusiasm through another coach then and only then will we be a true basketball school. Until then we, like just about every other fanbase in the SEC, are a football and a whatever we are good at right now school.

We will get football back on track and beat UGA and LSU and be a problem either with or without (my bet is without) Gus. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't being honest.

I am enjoying the ride in basketball but know it will end at some point, won't ever get better than now in basketball

I love it when Duke and Kentucky people say it doesn't count because you don't fill up your arena when you've been bad for 3, 5, 10, 15 consecutive years.

You can fill your respective arenas on off years because 1) you're probably still decent 2) you've probably got NBA talent to watch even if the team sucks and 3) you know you'll be good again in 12 or 24 months.

I'd love to see how that Kentucky enthusiasm is doing after 5 years of being at the bottom of a mediocre conference.

It’s been that way for 3 seasons now. Gus has a slim to none shot of ever making the playoffs or winning the SEC.

Bruce is going for 3 straight seasons of some sort of SEC title and NCAA tournament appearances.

Auburn is an everything school now.

Top 25 in football
Top ten-ish in basketball
Top ten in baseball
Top 25 gymnastics

Our women’s basketball and softball teams suck.

Women’s soccer is decent

jville, don't presume to speak for all Auburn fans on our football coach. Hope you get the approval for your post from the bammers and bulldogs that you are so desperately craving.
