Guy had 40 ints vs 31 tds.
Ole Miss finished in the SEC with him as starter
1968 5th
1969 5th
1970 4th
Only 10 teams back then.

Plus remember Alabama was way down during this era.
Lost to Miss State his senior year. Lost to LSU by 44 his senior year.

Record in 3 years to Miss State 1-1-1.
Never beat Auburn.

Outside of beating Tennessee in 1969 what did Ole Miss/Manning do from 1968-1970 to have your own speed limit on campus.

He was the entire team and did things nobody matched until Johnny Football broke his record 40 years later. This thread is obviously a troll thread.

Can you give me any facts why he is such a great figure by Ole Miss fans. What record did Manziel break? Got any facts or stats.

For Ole Miss, it's the pinnacle of the Walk of Champions along with the 2003 Co Western Division Championship.

His greatest college accomplishment was indeed losing to Alabama as that's the only game ever brought up when remembering Manning.

Like saying Pete Maravich was overrated. Great players, sucky teams. One man can't do it all in team sports. Manning was running for his life most of his career.

Don’t forget about his rushing yds, he was 9th in the SEC in rushing & led the league in rushing TDs in ‘69 during his MVP season. Unfortunately he broke his arm his senior season, his numbers would certainly have been greater. He was a heck of an athlete & QB

He was the #2 overall NFL draft pick and 4th in Heisman vote, so someone didn't think he was overrated

And despite, managed to accomplish what he did on
the field---same was true in his time
with the Saints. Never know how great he
could have been.

If anything he's one of the most underrated. Ole Miss' defense was awful in 1968 and he won 7 games.Only Houston really handed it to them in 69. Ole Miss was as good as any team--- Texas,Southern California or Ohio State at the end of the year.

You could go look at heisman voting those years. That’ll tell you what sports media thought of him. Which is about the same way SEC fans feel.

Since you mentioned him in the NFL.

His record as a starter was 35–101–3 (26.3%), the worst in NFL history among QBs with at least 100 starts. He retired having never played on a team that notched a winning record or made the playoffs.

If true, I'm convinced. I'm guessing it's a big fish in a small pond situation?

Yeah those hypseman voters sure do know what’s up. Along similar lines, wasn’t some fat chick sec special teams of the week for a horrible squib kick? See where this is going?

I see where you are going, but it’s a dumbass road. He was clearly thought of as one of the best players of his era.
