He should never have been playing in that game.

Archie is the most overrated player to go along with Pat Dye being the most overrated coach. He’s a legend in cow turd town Auburn and he won 0 National Titles...that’s embarrassing.

Archie was a great player in a declining football program. John Vaught had a heart attack and didn't coach for much of the last year of his coaching. The entire SEC was adapting to integration and Ole Miss probably did as poor a job in that dept. as could be done.

Look up the Sports Illustrated article on The Year of the Quarterback. Archie is on the cover. It should let you know all you need to know about him.

It’s not just Ole Miss fans. Pretty much any fan with a high football IQ understands.

Thanks for that for the info on the Miss State game. Again can you tell me what Archie did at Ole Miss to be considered an all time great? Please list them.

So finishing in the top 10 one time makes you a legend. Alabama has probably had 35 plus qbs do that. Gary Hollingsworth in 1989 led Alabama to a 10 win season and top 10 final ranking. Maybe Alabama should give him a speed limit and tributes all over the campus.

A generation, 50 years removed from Archie Manning's college career, is going to break it down for us.

You obviously never saw Archie play in college. I did. He singlehandedly beat two excellent LSU teams during his sophomore and junior years. He played with a cast on his left arm against LSU his senior year. He was the team.
Until Tebow and then Burrow, I thought Archie was the best SEC QB of all time.
Stats mean nothing especially in that era. Take a look at Billy Cannon’s stats when he won the Heisman.

Alabama wasn’t way down during that time. BearBryant was still coaching.

Alabama was a 6 win team in 1969 and 1970 2 weakest teams under Bryant.
