Is 2019 LSU the most overrated team in football history?

Not bashing, they were a great team but it seems that emotions have overtaken facts.

Are they in contention for the best team ever? Yes
Are they entirely over-romanticized on this board? Also yes

YES.
(but seriously, no, not even close. I'm just here for the melts.)

Honest question - why did you pick 2019 LSU instead of any of the other playoff or BCS championship over the last quarter century?
Because you can probably answer your own OP with that.

I don't know.
Opposing fanbases always seem to want to compare their teams to 2019 LSU for some reason.

Not as overrated as those tx shorthorn championship teams.
Bad troll job BTW.

I’m as unbiased as they come. Here’s how I rank the SEC national champs since 2010.
1. 2011 Bama (I think that defense would still put a clamp on today’s offenses, it was that good)
2. 2020 Bama
3. 2019 LSU
4. 2022 UGA
5. 2010 AU
6. 2012 Bama
7. 2015 Bama
8. 2017 Bama
9. 2021 UGA

I'd take 2012 Bama over 2011. Much more balanced.

Yep, that's really all you need to know. People like to compare to 1995 Nebraska too. Same reason.

2011 Bama defense gave up 7.7 points per game.
Since at least 2003, only one other team in CFB was able to hold opponents to under 10 ppg, which was USC in 2008 (9 points per game).
Even LSU’s historically great defense in 2011 gave up 11.2 ppg.

I had LSU +1500 in 2019 & won. That said, if Tua hadn’t been coming off an injury, Bama would have beat them.

The love for a team that played teams with half rosters astounds me lol. Covid year don’t count

Name one team that beat 7 top 10 teams in same season…… oh yeah that was 2019 LSU and NOONE else.

I bet it’s because this is somewhat of a lsu board.

I'd still take 2012 Bama. #1 defense in the nation and AJ threw almost twice as many TDs as he did in 2011.

Maybe, but we will never know. They played and won the games they had, and beat some damn good teams, badly.
