He inherited an Indiana program that was really good, and hasn't got out of the regionals.
I read that.

Lemonis just finished his fourth season at Indiana, one in which the Hoosiers won 40 games and advanced to an NCAA regional. Indiana advanced to three NCAA regionals during his tenure, after inheriting a program Tracy Smith took to a College World Series.

only time will tell if it's a good hire or not. It certainly isn't the splash hire their AD promised.

The Aggies know about Indiana baseball, ask them.

Solid hire. Indiana will take a step back.

And Tracy Smith has turned into a colossal failure at Arizona State.

Just because the average fan doesn't recognize the name doesn't mean it's an average hire. This guy is a star in the making. Cut his teeth with McConnell at Louisville and was widely considered the best recruiter on staff. Has learned the ropes of head coaching at Indiana all the while improving every year. Recruited pretty damn good at Indiana. Plus gautrue is staying on. They will kill it on the recruiting trail. Solid hire that will pay off.
MSU's AD's talking points

He is solid, much like the kingston hire at SC last year...

Why not give it to the guy who coached this season?
Posted on 6/24/18 at 11:08 pm to PorkRoast
He was an assistant at Louisville for 7 years and went to CWS 3 times as McDonnell's assistant. Hes been trained well at least.
We should be fine since Gautreau is staying as hitting coach. This should make for a killer recruiting duo, at the very minimum.

A Tennessee fan was saying he didn't know Indiana had a baseball program?
(Kinda left himself wide open there.)

Cohen makes great hires so State fans should be excited

I am not sold on this guy. He could be very good, he could be awful. Time will tell.

He was with McDonnell for a long time at Louisville. Great recruiter. Very good hire by Mississippi State

Not the best gameday coach, but a fantastic recruiter.

Isn't this similar to what fans said when they hired Croom?

I doubt your AD, a baseball guy himself, would hire a complete idiot.

Not sure what to think. I'll reserve judgement.
All I can say is at this point he will be pushing tree fiddy by the time the season starts after a few months in MS if he doesn’t watch himself. That and I bet he can mash a softball.
