Even though they're not in the same conference, they seem to be playing on the "big stage" each year and it doesn't appear that anything's going to change in the near future. If Oklahoma can get there and play Alabama another time or two then that may qualify. My definition of a rival is someone/team that you play often AND have a relatively even record against. I realize that Alabama is 14-5 lifetime against Clemson, but recent games seem to have pushed the perception of a rivalry in the public's eye.

If Georgia could meet and beat Alabama a couple of times in the next few years, I'd assume they would qualify, too.

You’ll get an answer to that when y’all come into the Cock Pit this season.

3-4 years doesn't make a rivalry.

What amount of years is still considered "short run"?

A&M tends to play them closer so I'd say A&M is clemson's rival

I'd say probably 5-10 years..I certainly can see Ala/Clemson games going that length.

Why would playing South Carolina for the first time in 9 years answer anything?

Getting boat raced isn't a rivalry. Neither is a mercy knee by the practice squad.

Not a rivalry but more like Clemson is Bama's Daddy

Just about everyone with a pulse played Clemson closer than did Bama.

It looks more like a changing of the guard than a rivalry.

I think Clemson has sort of become a rivalry against all SEC teams. We spend all year hearing how we don't play anyone (Except for the 2 SEC teams we play every year in the regular season) which trigger's our base and your fan base gets triggered when we beat any of your schools.

We Tide fans don’t pull for Clemson to lose every game they play. As a matter of fact most of us feel good about their success,(except when playing Bama). So to me that’s not a rivalry.
The VOLS and the Boogs are rivals. If the truth was told we had just as soon they never make a first down.
They are rivals.
Ps, L8U is not a rival. No one with a shrimp boat skipper as their head coach will ever be considered a rival to Bama.

Bama,
You don’t get a rival until your bitch, aggy, says you do.

One of these years you'll suck again and we'll all have no problem laughing at you.

The ONE SEC team you play yearly (cross state rival) seems to have become rather lopsided so it's really hard to call them true rivals (similar to LSU, Auburn, Tenn., etc. for Alabama). It's a shame to have to wait for post season to play a rival.

It's obviously just more juvenile trash talking b.s., but I'll play long enough to note that Alabama is 2&2 vs Clemson the last 4 years and A&M lost their only recent game. I think A&M has a good chance, though, this coming season, but would be better were it at A&M.

Texas A&M, with Fisher, is going to be a pain in the arse to the rest of the SEC.

Clemson may not be Bama's only rival but for the last 3 years they have been Bams's only equal. No one in the SEC has been.

This might "trigger" you, but it's true. Clemson's SOS shows their two toughest games are A&M and South Carolina - games that rank 5th and 6th toughest on Alabama's.

You played a team with 7 wins in your championship game. Alabama played one with 11.

Clemson plays in a super weak conference. That's not Clemson's fault but it doesn't change the fact.
