Texas tried to make a conference wide network for the Big 12 with equal revenue sharing - it was voted down.
Then Texas went to A&M to ask them to start a joint network - the Aggies said no.
Then word broke that Aggie wanted to defect to the Big 10 and abandon the Big 12. That is when Texas said, hey, if this is every man for himself, let's start our own network. The LHN would have never existed if A&M wasn't selfish.

horseshite. Texas was selfish and domineering with any network. Nothing y’all ever presented was equal revenue sharing. Not at a conference level, not with a “Lone Star Network”. Nothing. Texas wanted complete control and wanted to air the games of high school recruits in exchange for their commitment.

Horns got the LHN and they still cried
Horns have the Big 12 with more easy teams to beat
but no, they ain't staying, they want to follow A&M to the SEC
Aggies lead
Horns follow
Welcome to the SEC

Texas wanted to join the PAC-10. The LHN was the bribe to keep Texas in the Big 12.

It was an offer the PAC-10 wasn't willing to match.

A person with direct knowledge of discussions among the Big 12's remaining members said Texas is clear to set up its own TV network and keep all proceeds in exchange for remaining in the Big 12.

In the 11th hour, after months of telling us they understand the TV rights, they’re trying to pull a fast one on the verge of sealing the deal in the regents meeting,” the source said. “They want a better revenue sharing deal and their own network. Those were points of principle. (The Pac-10) wants to treat everyone fairly. It’s been that way for months of discussions.

Put down the bong sneezy. You are making things up.
Most of what is stated here is wrong. There never was going to be a conference wide network and it was never proposed. If it was, where is it now? Why didn't they go through with it? Where is that equal revenue sharing? The rumors that A&M wanted to leave the big 12 started after teasip started talking to the PAC. A&M never had any interest in joining the Big10.
The only true part of this statement is that A&M was approached about a joint network and we said we were interested. Once the details came out about the network, it was clear that it was mainly going to benefit teasip. Teasip AD deLoss Dodds stated that 'sip was planning on using the network to show high school games of recruiting prospects, giving them a huge advantage in recruiting. That was enough of teasip arrogance for A&M's AD. This is when A&M joined the SEC.

Neither OU or A&M could have got a BIG invite without Texas. The BIG was so full of themselves, they wouldn't take Texas and OU together, they only wanted Texas. They have wanted Texas for over a decade.

A&M found an excuse to leave and make Texas the bad guy, just like Nebraska...That is all that happened. The Longhorn Network was just going to be used for tier 3 sports. A&M and Nebby blew up the conference because Texas wanted to make money off Volleyball and Golf on the LHN...Kansas already had a similar network for Basketball and neither Nebby or A&M cried over that. OU was trying to get their own network also, and no crying over that either. A&M and Nebraska both voted down a conference Network for the old Big 12 as well so your revisionist history is BS...

course, it's also possible Texas would stay and try and dominate an even weaker Big 12.
Texas "dominate" the Big 12??? It couldn't even dominate Kansas, for goodness sake!!!
A&M was part of the interested party to leave the Big 12, but they weren't luring the others to "join in with them". They were just part of the group interested in leaving and I don't blame them.

Or an SEC invite for that matter.
Does anyone elbow their way into a conversation and claim importance better than the horns?

Aggy didn’t try to join the B1G, but Mizzou most certainly did and got rejected.

Well they kind of did not want A&M when the SWC blew up. They offered Texas and A&M cried to the legislature in Texas to not be left behind as I recall and screwed up Texas chances to join the SEC back then. Then you joined the Big 12 with Texas and screwed the pooch on that conference too...Hopefully, they won't get hurt feelings and screw up in the future, yet again, but that is what A&M is good at.

You’re welcome, Mizzou, the tapeworm of the SEC.

I would be EXTREMELY disappointed in Texas A&M’s leadership if it FAILED to explore options in the Big 10, same as it was exploring options at that time in the SEC.
After which, the Regents decided to stay in the Big 12.
We explored our options- THATS WHO WE ARE! It may be hard to understand from a Missouri program that rarely has options.
The ONLY reason Mizzou is in the SEC is that A&M changed it’s mind a year later.
You’re welcome.
