I’m a Bammer but not sure why another 4 star qb would commit

considering the other highly rated qb and the fact the Milroe is redshirt freshman and Simpson a true freshman

Not like these guys are signing away 4 years now. If he doesn't like the situation, he can bail.

Some men are born with more testosterone and like to compete against the best to test themselves.
Any man with above-average testosterone would recognize this.

True. The transfer portal does make it easy and most major college qb prospects are cocky

Injuries? Busts (Barnett, Bateman), transfers? Look what happened at RB.

It's not a matter of cockiness, it's just a CBA. Why not take a chance and sign with a big-time team likely to make the playoffs? The cost of signing with one team over another has diminished with the transfer rules.

Blake Barnett.
Highly rated doesn't mean shite, it's a competition and the best QB will win out.

Literally no one saw Jalen Hurts coming in and starting as a true freshman when there were two 4* QB's that had been in the system for at least two years, plus a hotshot 5* recruit in Barnett in the same signing class. You never know how these competitions will turn out.

Mac Jones is the latest good example for Alabama. I think he was a 3 star. He came in the same class as Tua and one behind Hurts, who was the SEC offensive player of the year

He and his Dad, who was qb for Penn State, talk about that
LINK
“They only have three quarterbacks on scholarship right now and Bryce (Young) probably is gone by the time I get there so I’ll be competing with the same amount of people I would anyway,” Lonergan said when asked about being part of a two-quarterback class.
“I talked to my OC, talked to my dad (Dan Lonergan played quarterback at Penn State) and I thought it all through, weighed out everything and figured out Bama was the best fit for me.”
The elder Lonergan echoed a lot of the same.
“I think it’s the ability to play at the highest level,” Dan Lonergan said. “He got comfortable with Coach Saban allowing him to play both sports which is critical in every scenario. Once he got over that hump the opportunity to play for championships and compete at the highest level in practice and the SEC.”

I wonder how long that will last? It seems like a QB would need to be with his team year around.

Let them compete and see who's who. From what I saw from Milroe last year he is NOT the answer and Saban knows more than I do.
I just hope Dylan is better than his father. Dan and Doug Strang alternated for Penn St in 1983 and neither did much but Dan Lonergan wasn't as highly regarded as Dylan and JoePa was never much of a thrower.
Don't put all of our chips on Milroe. Just don't see anything more than a Jalen Hurts runner with Tua's bad decision making all in one.
My money is on Simpson.

Because they know Saban is the best coach in the SEC, maybe ever.

From what i read most people think Simpson after this year

You are going to see qb’s hitting portals yearly. I think Howard at LSU is the real deal. Any qb’s brought in behind him will hit the portal. Sucks if your team gets the injury bug

Guess that is what will happen. Great insight by you.

I wish the best for Lonergan, I think he's gonna be a hell of a QB if he plays. My speculation on the whole thing, he has a much better chance of getting that Natty with Bama. But I think the kid is looking long term, especially post college. I'm thinking he sees that guaranteed baseball money. Best to ride the football bench, get in some reps, sport a national championship ring, and stay healthy to collect the big MLB money he probably has coming.
