As an aTm fan, why do you want SC? That game has always felt contrived and kinda pointless.

They were the two teams that, geographically, were the furthers apart in the conference. Yet they were still forced to play every year.

Could do home and away for the first two games, but where would we play the third game? Don't say Legion Field, because, hell no.

Yeah, I get *why* we play aTm. I don't get why an aTm fan wants SC as a permanent opponent.

I personally miss the Arkansas series. We were both New Kids, and that series was whacky as hell. Mizzou has made up for losing that one, though. As much as I want to win the Mizzou game and shove Drinkwitz into a locker, dammit, I think Mizzou is kinda fun. I pull for them when they aren't playing SC. There's a level of competition between the two programs, but also an interesting kind of respect both schools have for each other. Can't explain it.

I don't feel that way about aTm, at all. There's a pretty visceral dislike to those cats.

While I have been a proponent of the 3 permenant being the teams most played in the history of the program...sometimes that won't work out. I still believe history is important...so here are the 7 teams each SEC team has played the most...and the 3 should come from that list, prioritizing the top 3 if available:

Alabama - Mississippi St., Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Vandy, Georgia, Ole Miss
Arkansas - aTm, Texas, Ole Miss, LSU, Miss St., Auburn, Bama
Auburn - Georgia, Miss St., Bama, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss,
Florida - Georgia, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Vandy, Miss St., Tennessee
Georgia - Auburn, Florida, Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina, Bama, Tennessee
Kentucky - Tennessee, Vandy, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Miss St., Ole Miss
LSU - Miss St., Ole Miss, Bama, Florida, Arkansas, aTm, Kentucky
Ole Miss - Miss St., LSU, Vandy, Bama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia
Miss St., - Ole Miss, LSU, Bama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee
MIZZOU - OU, Texas, Vandy, aTm, Arkansas, USCe, Kentucky
OU - Texas, MIZZOU, aTm, Arkansas, Bama, Tennessee, LSU
USCe - Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vandy, Arkansas, LSU
Tennessee - Kentucky, Vandy, Bama, Ole Miss, Georgia, Auburn, Florida
Texas - OU, aTm, Arkansas, MIZZOU, LSU, Vandy, Bama
aTm - Texas, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma, Miss St., MIZZOU, Bama
Vandy - Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Bama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn

What I don't like are "system created rivalries".

So South Carolina vs AM? The previous expansion was like musical chairs, and SC/AM were the only two left standing when the music stopped...

Yes...but that is harder, since they were both additions to the original SEC. But also...Tennessee vs Florida and Tennessee vs Georgia were "system created".

Between 1933 and 1992 (the 59 years from when the conference started an when it expanded the first time), Tennessee played Georgia 10 times and played Florida 15 times.

By comparison, during that same timeframe...Tennessee played North Carolina (who was not in the same conference) 21 times. They actually played every year from 1930-1936 and 1945-1961.

But...the SEC expanded and decided that Georgia and Florida would be "rival" games for Tennessee due to division alignment.

My choice would be 4 teams. Rotate the other 5 SEC games.

Auburn
Georgia
LSU
Tennessee

I don't care how hard the schedule is, life is hard. I also want Miami back permanently, which would give us 6 auto games along with FSU every year. Rotate the rest. Playing rivals is more important than national championships imo. Also if you have the toughest schedule, you can make the playoff with more losses.

Playing a schedule without your rivals is stupid.

The only redeeming thing about 9-3 is you get to play everyone 2 outta 4 years.

for the Ags, I think two are near certainties, LSU and Texas.

I heard talk last year of State as the 3rd, but I don't see either team feeling that would be a good "rivalry".

I would perfer Arkansas as our 3rd. Tons of history with them.
