Clemson and Fla St.

Clos3 3rd would be Ga. Tech.

And don't give me any shite about TV markets. I don't give a frick and the OP said I could pick any two I wanted. Those two are the best fit.

14 is already too many, 12 was just so damn perfect.

16 is too many for a conference, at that point the divisions are pretty much their own conferences.

From purely a football standpoint, no doubt FSU and Clemson. But I think adding UNC and UVA would be cool. Their football programs would improve, they are solid at other sports, and have great academics.

Eta: Anyone that says GT is stupid. They no longer fit in with the SEC in anyway whatsoever.

The two ideal candidates in North Carolina and Virginia are UNC and UVa. That applies to any conference. They bring a LOT more to the table than VT or NC St. I'm not sure if the SEC could get them, though. They're sort of tied at the hip, and UVa's alumni/decision-makers (as well as some of UNC's, probably) have serious reservations about the SEC. They'll stay in the ACC as long as it's viable.

To the people saying VT, you do NOT want that. If you think the current SEC fan bases have a problem with redneck sidewalk fans, just you wait. Pretty much their entire fan base is comprised of rednecks from southwest VA and fair-weather fans from the rest of the state who didn't become fans until Vick showed up. There are less of them every year.

VT is an average school, they generally suck at sports except for football (which they suck at now), the town isn't cool (or at least can't compare with Charlottesville, for comparison), and the fans suck dong. Their football program may as well have not existed before Frank Beamer, and he's about done.

Actually it is a monthly thread. Every single month and.....AGAIN....Florida would veto FSU and South Carolina would veto Clemson and if the SEC expands it will be to increase TV markets not to make "cool matchups". Do you think the SEC expanded into Missouri for the football? No. It is to get the SEC in the Kansas City and St. Louis tv markets. Copy and paste that when this comes up in October.

What about East Carolina? Then they can be LSU's permanent East rivalry to "make things fair"

It's incredibly unlikely, but this thread isn't about likely or good calls. Just who I'd want to see in the SEC.

Clemson in the east and University of Houston in West. In moving U of H to the SEC, they could recruit out of the 2 biggest markets in the conference in Houston and DFW.

Ignoring the necessity to expand the footprint: UNC and Clemson

Realistic: UNC and Oklahoma

None of those make any sense. The SEC wants to expand its TV market. The SEC already has the states of Florida and Texas.

If they expand it would be into North Carolina and Virginia.

This is the only answer.
