Heck my offense would be lethal with top talent. Anybody's would.

Spurrier had to compete with annual elite UT and FSU teams....Bama has had LSU thus far....

You're not very smart. The SEC of the last ten years, top to bottom, is light years ahead of the SEC in the 90's.

How many times did UT beat Spurrier during this epic period?

And, combine the FSU & UF titles from then and Saban wins.

Your turn.

I don't think the results of any ONE game says anything about a coach. I will think Saban is one of the top coaches in the game.

How many championships did Spurrier win with all that talent while dominating the SEC?

Spurrier dominated the SEC to a greater extent than Saban has. And Spurrier did it at a time when the East had very strong UGA and UT programs, and the SEC was not the premier conference at that time. He had to do it during years when UT, UGA, LSU, and Auburn were all top-10 teams. Also the national championship had to route through the state of Florida due to UF, FSU, and Miami all being elite. And, both Michigan and Ohio State were legit, and Nebraska was at its zenith.

Only LSU in 2011 was a comparable national title opponent to those in contention back in the 90s. Of course, it's LSU, so they tend to wilt against Bama. Texas in 09 would have been blasted by UF and a few others. Cincinnati was even money against that Texas team. Notre Dame was a joke. Everyone knows that. That game was over after the first five plays.

Bama fans should just be happy about their success, and not attempt ridiculous statements like Saban being more dominant than Spurrier was. Saban better rattle off about 4 more SEC titles before that talk is legit.

I rest my case. This Sullivan character claimed that I embarrass myself on this board? Pot meet kettle. This guy is up there with Robert the tool Goulet as worst poster. Oh, lest I forget that nuisance Road gator. Smack him on the snout and he'll go back to his corner.

What does that say about Saban?

It would say more about Dantonio. He's one of the 5 best coaches in college football right now.

Georgia mostly sucked when Spurrier was at Florida. The only good teams UGA had when he was there were 1992 and 1997. The 1992 team had Goff on the sidelines to cancel out all the talent on the field and the 1997 team beat UF like a rented mule.

Anyone can recruit if the rules aren't applied... He can not win without superior recruits; even talent and he loses everytime....

Recruiting rankings are about as real as Santa Claus. Its only fitting the off season champions of the world would cite recruiting rankings as a reason a team should win. How many wins did Tennessee amass with its multiple top 5 classes over the last decade or so? What about Texas or USC?

So let me get this right....
1) Alabama cheats at recruiting, and...
2) therefore, Alabama most often is the best team, but..
3) if Saban/Alabama didn't recruit the best, then they'd lose everytime to an equally or more talented team.

have I got this right?

Certain posters on this board have basically turned into caricatures of themselves due to Saban's dominance. The OP is a prime, and sad, example.

I'm curious about this too. Saban might not be good under a playoff format.

At least we'll get to know if he's not....some folks will never know about their coach.

I think there is a decent chance they can lose this game. Michigan state is a very solid team and a great QB. We will see
