That bad losses are just as important as good wins, justifiably so.

And that it's probably best to skip the conference championship game

You seem to be taking this way too hard. No, the other message that the committee sent was that conference championships aren't an overwhelming factor which is why USC was also not seriously considered.

I can kind of see it. But there's still an argument to be made. OSU had more quality wins. So if anything it still evens out in the end right? So what's the tie breaker?

The message from the committee is:

"We got Alabama. Who else y'all want?"

The committee basically said we'll put Bama in every year regardless of whether they've earned it. Just rename it the Bama invitational.

Didn't work for LSU this year, did it?

I wonder if the midget had to register as a lobbyist before yesterday's begging/whining sessions.

Total number of losses and the quality of those losses. OSU got blown out by unranked 7-5 Iowa and got blown out at home by OU. Bama lost 1 game in a competitive contest in Jordan-Hare Stadium where Auburn has a decided home cookin' advantage. The fact that Georgia dominated Auburn on a neutral field fortifies that contention.

Exactly. So you are saying one bad loss is greater than more quality wins. With this notion, teams will start playing cupcake schedules again.

Not saying you are wrong, just saying nobody knows because their isn't a formula.

I mean OU is a playoff team. Does that loss really look that bad on a resume?

OSU fans were crying the same thing in that loss to Iowa.

OSU's quality wins were against teams who inflated their records by beating bottom-feeders in the big 10. Michigan beat one bowl eligible team for example. And bama beat more p5 bowl eligible teams as well as more total bowl eligible teams.

I'm not claiming bama played powerhouses but the sentiment you express is just regurgitated talking points from others that is vastly wrong to be honest.

And that conference championship games are meaningless.

Wasn't Bama #1 basically every week of the season, with their only loss to a top 5 team?

You can't fix stupid. Bama deserves to be in.

The system is flawed. Baylor/TCU were penalized 3 years ago for lack of the 13th data point. But Bama is not...

Just last week, a 2-loss Auburn jumped into the top 4, and everyone was OK with a 2-loss team being in the top 4.

But this week, it's apparently a no go for a 2-loss conference champion to be top 4. There's no consistency and there's clearly regional bias with the rankings.

Agree. I think they also know they shouldn't have picked tOSU of PSU last year. "Make up call" so to speak.
