I get so tired of hearing about how great the Michigan and OSU rivalry is.

I can name about 4 or 5 rivalry games off the top of my head that is better. I would much rather go watch the Iron Bowl or the Egg Bowl than Michigan and OSU. Army and Navy is a way better rivalry game. Both Michigan and OSU are typically overrated as hell. They both play each other every year and that’s about it till they lose a playoff game. Why the National media shoves this game down our throats every year I have no idea but there are way better rivalry games out there than this one.

I would argue the Alabama/Auburn rivalry is the best, but OSU/Michigan is still a great rivalry.

I think the genuine hatred between the two schools is what makes it a great rivalry, even though both programs are consistently overrated.

The two states fought a literal war against each other. The hatred runs deep.

What waters it down is both teams have multiple professional sports teams nearby, and there are plenty of people in each state who just don’t even care about college sports all together.

Historically maybe it used to be something

Since I have watched college football it's been overhyped and usually one sided or an uninteresting game

By comparison Iron Bowl has been the best in terms of pure animosity with some genuine classics thrown in

And I can think of several others just in the SEC that have had greater impact on the CFB landscape

It’s the best rivalry in football. Sorry that hurts your feelings.

Well, I mean there is an established history in that rivalry and both programs are considered 2 of the blue bloods of college football.

Obviously the media is going to hype the game up when both teams have a playoff/title shot on the line.

Nobody is watches this because it’s great football.

Ohio State and Michigan game easily puts 100k asses in seats with two blue blood programs.

I didn’t say that it want a good rivalry. All I am saying is that if you listen to the national media or a national sports talk show all you hear about is Michigan vs OSU. There are other rivalry that are just as good if not better. If you like college ball it’s hard to beat the Iron Bowl or the Egg Bowl when it comes to the fans of hating each other.

By what measure? It isn’t particularly competitive….Michigan has a sizeable lead. Neither team is overly prominent as national powers, at least not in the modern era. It’s a big deal in Michigan and Ohio but it’s no bigger than Alabama and Tennessee or Georgia Florida and it ain’t close to the Iron Bowl…. I will bet that family reunions in May in Neither Ohio or Michigan are as focused on the game as reunions in Alabama are

It's a huge rivalry but I don't get the same level of hate like the iron bowl or south Carolina clemson.

Ohio State and Michigan would wipe the field with Army and Navy.

That game gets so much attention nationally that it will pull in an audience just because of the build up every year. If other games could get some of that attention more people would probably tune in to watch. That’s the problem though because this game sucks up all the oxygen and gets all the attention that it’s hard for some of these other games to get exposure to a casual fan that doesn’t live and breathe college ball like everyone on here does.
