Tanner still thinks he's got himself a real catch with Boom. Figured he'd better lock him down with a humongous buyout before some other school poaches him!

The myth of the SEC athlete. Y'all been drinking the koolaid for too long. Too much Rivals worship. There's 10ish top notch teams in football on any given year. The SEC Just happens to have 4 of them (GA, Bama, LSU, Auburn). They are no better as a whole than Clemson or the like. THEN there's everyone else THEN there's the leftovers.

The middle class in any conference can pretty well beat the middle class of any other conference 4 out of 10 times. All this to say having 2-4 powerful teams in the SEC doesn't make the rest of the teams better, it just means they/we have More elite teams. Once a decade that elite team might be a Mizzou or Tenn or Ark or SC, but that's the anomaly.

Between the Hogs, Vols, and Cocks I am having a hard time picking the league's worst team.
SC is a poor SEC team. Tennessee is a bad power 5 team. Arkansas is one of the worst teams in FBS.

I don't see South Carolina as "collapsing". I believe they are simply having a down year, young quarterback, etc. I'd like to think most middle-tier teams go through this once in a while. But Tennessee, all those 5-Star athletes...and it doesn't seem to matter who the coach is. Arkansas...I've got nothing.

Yeah SC isn’t collapsing. They’re not that great but that’s kind of SC football. Tennessee and Arkansas are in trouble, particularly Arkansas if I’m being honest with myself.

Kirby’s biggest advantage is that he’s an elite recruiter. Having a roster deep with talent helps to cover up other deficiencies. We always attracted talent but nothing like we’re doing now.

Tennessee is just getting what they deserve.........karma and whatnot.

As a side note....the first real smack talk I ever heard upon entering the SEC was some goober probably in his parents basement with Tennessee crap all over his room. We were getting stomped by Alabama in CoMo as he was going on and on about how we don't belong in the SEC this, and we're wasting people's time that. Well, as "karma" has it, our first road SEC victory was against Tennessee....and I haven't cared for the Vol's since.

So yes, it's Karma....

You see thing realistically.

Here's one thing most of us, fans or middle tier teams, seem to forget sometimes.

It takes time. It takes continuity. It takes hard work by everyone involved.

Here's an example I always use.

Frank Beamer at Va Tech .... one of the best coaches we have ever seen at a mid tier program, who which wasn't even a mid tier program before Beamer took over. But people forget about his first six years.

quote:

Beamer's record in his first six seasons was 24-40-2, a win percentage of .385. After the team went 2-8-1 in 1992, athletic director Dave Braine believed in Beamer and thought he deserved more time, which proved to be a wise decision.

He finished his career 280–143–4 ... and do the math, take out those first six seasons while he was building and he did pretty well .... because the fans had patience with him.

Now, it's a little different in the SEC but look at SPURrier's first six years at SC. Not much better. Then he went on a little run and could have done great things were he not old and tired and ready to quit.

We have a young, hard working, coach now. If Gamecock fans will calm down he'll do fine. He's a solid recruiter. He just needs time.

Arkansas is the worst and I have no idea why. I've been watching them for 30 years now.. and the last few years.. I just can't explain it.

Forget about the SEC, these teams could barley beat high school teams. We sit here and watch them play, and it's just embarrassing. There is no other way to say it. It feels like nearly every position we just get destroyed.

This last game, we were down 3 scores to San Jose whatever, they would throw a pass and hit our DB in the back of the head.. and the DB would celebrate like they just won the super bowl... it's embaressing.

I can't wrap my head around it. When I played sports and was 3 scores down I would be pissed.. there was no celebrating. This generation though, I don't know what to say.

Vandy beat our Hogs last year....

and would again. Dude, we truly are bad. You and everyone else should start your 3rd teamers, you would still win by 21....

Everything about that post is so true it hurts. Muschamp has reverted back to seasons 3-4 at UF. Even if the East tanked he wouldn't know how to capitalize on it. He has no kill instinct.
