I never said any of this, George.

We lost damn near 40 players and changed the defensive scheme in an offseason with little practice time. I would've taken 8-4 in a regular year.

LSU will definitely be better next season, but whether they get back to being a serious SEC and National Title contender comes down to if Eaux makes better hires at coordinator. The ones he has now are not Championship material.

Ensminger was the OC last year

Funny attrition never hurts Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama, from fielding competitive teams year in and out. Those teams also lose a dozen or so players to draft and graduation. They all dealt with Covid and Alabama knows better than anyone about losing OC and DC in same season. Name the last time Alabama has lost to three unranked teams in the same season following a national title. Some of you LSU posters are quite pathetic. Y’all have made excuses since the loss to MSST after chest thumping all offseason about we just reload not rebuild. Y’all can’t even keep your own bull sit straight. Reminds me of my 9 yr old when she gets caught lying.

Y’all get so hurt just by the prospect of us having success it’s hilarious.

While I think LSU might be better next year, I think they will be behind Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, TexasAM in talent, and maybe even Ole Miss.

LINK

I see 3 games that LSU will win next year, 3 they will lose, so the rest are tossups, good luck

Lol we weren’t behind Arkansas this year with no roster. Why would we be behind them next year?

If we have Stingley, Flott, and Vincent in the secondary against MSST we would not lose that game. I’d love to hear your argument as to why we would.

Because Flott has been absolutely awful all season long.

SEC QB Rating Against Secondary - Minimum 50 coverage snaps (104 total players)
15. Derek Stingley Jr (65.5)
97. Cordale Flott (144.2)

Stingley has been "good", but he's not been nearly as dynamic as he was last year. He's currently behind 4 Alabama CBs in QB Rating against (Branch, Moore, Jobe, Surtain).

Ricks has been better this season (65.9) than Vincent was last year (68.0).

So, while LSU would have been better in the secondary, they still would have stupidly tried to play man coverage all over the field and would have given up big plays against the corners and more specifically the LBs and Safeties the entire game.

I know it won’t help that rating much but Flott was fantastic last night. One of the few bright spots.

He really was good last night. LSU all in all played really well defensively. The rain, Aggie offensive system and Mond being atrocious helped, but LSU played really hard and tackled well. They played with some pride.

His QB Rating Against on the year is 144.2 - last night it was 58.6. Lights out game for sure.

SOG, I know you’re smart enough to know that QB eating against has a lot to do with how the defense is playing as a whole.

Stingley may be rated behind those guys but if you asked anybody who the best cornerback in college football was they would say Stingley.

Flott has been no worse than the lsu defense itself has been and he was coming off an injury in the Mississippi State game.

This also required us to play Ward, who was ALSO injured and not really supposed to play. If we have Stingley and Vincent that game we win easily

None of you expected to be this terrible. None of you expected to be outside the Top 25. Very few of you expected to lose more than 2-3 games. Clearly nobody expected to go 3-7 with losses to State and Missouri. Acting as if this is normal because you lost a bunch of players, especially when many of those were known and LSU fans were STILL running around telling us how dumb we all were for saying it would be really tough to replace, is laughable.

Your head coach is reliant on hiring good coordinators to function. He does not have good coordinators right now. If the same 2 coordinators are around in 2021, it's insane to think that LSU will be any better than "above average".

Nice sensible post that is so true since i followed that line also....

Why is it that LSU people are always bragging about being "the GOAT" and I might be wrong, but with all the natties Bama has won I very rarely hear Bama fans spout that BS. Yes, I know LSU fans proud and they had an excellent, excellent team last year, but c'mon beating Auburn by 3 and a defensively bad Bama team last year isn't so otherworldly... There are quite a few teams that were in that echelon....personally, and it's all subjective because of era's, but 1994-95 Nebraska was the best I ever saw.... nobody that year came within 3-4 TD's of them and literally had all their starters drafted. Lived in Omaha at the time and never heard the GOAT BS so prevalent.. There was some, but nothing, and I mean nothing like LSU. This is coming from a fan who isn't a Bama fan.

I don’t know about behind but they certainly have a better coaching staff and he gets more out of his players than Ed is. That’s not even debatable at this point.

And specifically how the defense is playing the offense. I would 100% agree LSU beats State if Pelini played all those guys you mentioned in a 3-2-6 Dime zone the whole game. But he wouldn't have, he would have had them chase receivers around the whole game, and State would have scored points. If you had done that with the personnel you had available for the game you would have won the game. It was just an absolutely atrocious decision to do it at the start, and an even more insane decision to stick with it for 4 quarters.

Which kind of goes to my overall point that is while the player turnover this year certainly plays a big part, the drop off in coaching at the coordinator spots is also a huge problem.

Again, this isnt an excuse but lumping Clemson, Bama, and Ohio State's "attrition" in with what LSU lost last season is ignorant.

LSU lost 17 starters of the starting 22 and 37 or so players overall.

I agree that the coverage packages sucked and they still would have scored points.

They would not have gotten 600 yards. There is no way. And they would not have gotten that many points.

Plus we would have chase which is a massive upgrade in both talent and chemistry to what Brennan had to throw too that game. We would have won and I think we would have won convincingly

From 3-6 to 6-6 maybe? Because LSU does get 3-4 games against nobodies in a normal schedule.

I don’t really want to talk predictions with the same guy I had a 3 hour discussion with before last season where he thought it was ridiculous that I believed LSU’s receiving corps to be better than Florida’s

I clearly stated that it wasn't an excuse, its just the reality of the situation.

LSU should still have been able to beat Mizzou and State despite all the losses.
