Coach E has done a remarkable job of covering up Joe Burrow weaknesses this year. Most QBs are accurate if giving time, but good to elite can reset the pocket. LSU posters have forgotten what a QB really is and overrated Burrows. 6 TDs and 4 picks speaks volumes.

Joe would excell if he had more protection. His biggest flaw is he holds the ball too long sometimes. He is the most accurate we’ve had in a while. Outside of Jefferson the other receivers have had too many drops and at least 3 or 4 should have been TDS but they stepped out at the one yard line

"It is 90% scheme/philosophy/play calling"

This. The simplistic LSU scheme depends on being better than your opponent talent-wise. This will not beat Alabama. The play calling has to maximize the ability of the scheme to perform. Long developing plays place too much emphasis on the ability of your offensive line to hold their blocks. Calling these type of plays is stupidity when your WEAKEST place is on the offensive line.

I had know idea he was fighting those demons, but it does make sense.

Doubtful. Burrell would be the worst QB at Bama since Avalos.

No.

It’s a combination of O line, Qb, RB, scheme and play calling. There is a lot of room for improvement in all phases of offense.

The OL is the biggest issue, but the other big issue is there isn't a gamebreaking back. That combination is a disaster. Burrow would be a pretty solid QB for Alabama or Georgia, I think.

Summer, as usual you are the wise man on this board.

If we can win out it would be a very good year for us.

Next year is The Year. :)

A game breaking back is useless if the line can't block jack squat. And again, if the line could frickin block and receivers could catch, Burrow would be one of the best in the game... look at how many drops our receivers have had. It's ridiculous.

Well, you're right. If we had a better QB and offensive line, plus a new OC, we'd be better.

I’ll never understand dropped passes.

I played in the school yard and never dropped a pass.

He’s average and that’s more than what we’re used to seeing at LSU.

As it relates to Burrows I agree with this...

IMO his biggest flaw is when he is in the pocket as follows:

He has very little (if any) sense of pressure and how to handle it..
I also suspect he has a stubborn streak that makes him think if he holds on long enough he can make a throw.

I would be interested to see what Canada could have done with Burrow

I wont lie, I was so happy when he was let go by LSU. His offense made life hard with all of the motions / shifts ect. If he had a QB at Maryland who could throw they would be lighting it up.

Since you're being honest, I'll bite.

You watch all the teams that can knock Bama on it's heels and what do you see? Clemson, OU, OSU, and Utah.

They bring confusing spreads and change plays on the fly. They "no-huddle" at will also. LSU hasn't even had an offense of note since 2007. 2014 was a lucky year only because Mettenberger could complete passes. 2011 was won by our defense.

I don't know what it is. We are over 10 years into coaching staffs not wanting to chance. Scared to put out wild pass-happy packages. Every coach we get seems to think that running up the middle for 3 yards is success.

And we WON'T beat Bama with vanilla offense. The Les Miles of 2005 would've gone for the gold like Saban of 2001. I miss those days. Our defense is established compared to those years. Open up the damn playbook or get a new one.

Coach O is trying to get Jr. Tua to play here. I feel like he'd be wasted anyway with Ensminger.

The biggest problem with burrow is he's not good under pressure

This is a tremendous issue when your OL has more holes than Swiss cheese.

It's a combination of scheme and talent. If LSU fans are honest with themselves this the least talented offense of this century. There are no elite players on the O-line, WR, TE, RB, or QB. I don't think guys have 1 all-sec caliber player on offense.
