It wasn't smart to say that someone has to win the team. It follows from that that the other QB lost the team. Saban can't predict when the guy who he called a loser might be called upon. That guy shouldn't come in behind the eight ball.

A better decision would be to admit the truth. The QB will be Saban's choice and not necessarily the team's.

Take responsibility coach. It's on you.

Alabama is so good that no matter how poorly Saban handles QBs they will probably be ok.

I'll forward him this thread. I'm sure he'll appreciate the advice. He certainly needs it.

If it's true that no one was talking to Hurts during this whole situation. Especially with his dad's media stuff earlier, then they obviously were okay with him going. Probably preferred it. It doesn't look like they really give a damn.
Tua is miles ahead of him as a pocket QB and he has no chance of winning the job. Evidently, Saban and company like the guys behind Tua better or at least feel like they'll accept their role better.
It just doesn't look like Jalen was wanted. Would rather free up another roster spot.

You mean the #1 and #7 all time Alabama offenses? The ones that sandwiched the #2 all time UA offense in between?

Outside of Saban, Kiffin had more of an impact on UA than any coach since Stallings. He didn't mishandle shite.

He uses that exact phrase every season when there is a doubt about the starting quarterback.

You may not have noticed, but it has worked out pretty decently for him so far.

actually the OP makes a pretty good point.

listening to some Alabama inside sports guys, he made a good point - hurts wanted the opportunity to speak for himself and say he was a team player and was coming back. instead he was written off. listening to hurts actual statement, I didn't see any criticism of the coaching staff.

I don't know about the team, but hurts lost the fanbase.

what a roller coaster - come in as a freshman and he's a god. now he's a throwaway. that's life, but you have to feel sorry for him anyway.

Kiffin screwed the pooch in the OSU game big time. They had no answer for Henry and we were up two TD's when he decided to start throwing it all over the place.

Alabama has the biggest wet blanket fan base. Can't you folks have a discussion without getting defensive?

On a busy Spring scrimmage day, CNS brought in Hurts' father days after he made the free agent remarks to discuss Hurts role, opportunity with the team and how the family felt going forward. Hardly seems like a disengaged or uncaring action. Does anyone think he or the staff NEVER said anything to or asked anything of Hurts himself?

I'm certain Jalen is feeling pressure and a bit down as he feels his starting role slipping away. He is an incredible athlete and has helped win a lot of games for UA. He has always been steady, poised, and confident.

I don't think any of this blown out of proportion interview that may have been a bit exaggerated on his part due to speaking with emotion truly defines him or is indicative of the positive impact he can still have on this year's team ... he is a great leader and great young man.

Wish him the best know matter what.

Yes, Tua should have been named the starter months ago.

He's literally said this in every QB battle the last decade. Seems to have worked out ok.

No doubt, they are the most insecure crew anywhere to be found. Saban is without question an arrogant cocksucker in so many ways, but that bunch of mindless drones can't hear or even conceive of it being the case.

If Fields is as good as you guys think he will be then UGA will have to deal with the same thing this year or next. You will learn very well that there is no good way to do it that will satisfy everybody.

Team players don't talk about their own interests and desires more than they do the team. They also don't talk about having made themselves their own brand.
