LSU has a 2 loss national championship.
Auburn has 2 perfect seasons.

Both have a national championship loss.

Both have two top 10 finishes in the past decade.

And that doesn't even lead into my point that Saban is the only differentiating factor between the 2 programs.

For winning the SEC and the Sugar Bowl, Bryant was given a lighter by the school. At the same time, Adolph Rupp was given a Rolls Royce.

Hell, lets just take the last 11 years.........

Auburn has 2 (2 coaches)

UGA has 2 (1 coach)

LSU has 1 (1 coach)

bama has 6 (1 coach)

What year do you think this is? Auburn's only SEC championship in the last 11 years was 2013. 2010 was 13 years ago. Plus, if you are going to count your 2010 championship, why leave out LSU's 2011 championship? Seems a little disingenuous.

Great. 2 loss national title > undefeated non championship.

3 national titles > 1 national title

Saban built LSU and their sustained success is from that. And? Who cares. They aren’t the same program.

With the right schedule in a year when a team is strong there are any number of teams who can compete for the title.

Avoiding Georgia and Bama in a season opens the window for some teams.

Auburn definitely has a better HC than both Florida and Texas. No question there. Both of those programs have more resources though.

AU can keep up with the big dogs? I cant believe you actually said this. Check out how many games AU has won against UGA in the last 20 years.

I said it earlier. Maybe i should be more clear.

The only difference between auburn and lsu the past 20 years is nick saban.

Auburn has 2 undefeated seasons in the last 20.
LSU only has 1.

Auburn played for 3 natties .
LSU played for 4.
The difference is that LSU had Nick Saban and Auburn didnt.

Auburn played for 2 Nattys.

Also, Nick Saban is not the difference. Here are Nick Saban's LSU records.

2000: 8-4
2001: 10-3
2002: 8-5
2003: 13-1
2004: 9-3

Saban had not yet turned into what he is now when he was here.

Here are Auburn's records while Saban was at LSU.

2000: 9-4
2001: 7-5
2002: 9-4
2003: 8-5
2004: 13-0

Saban didn't launch us ahead of Auburn at all. He was 2-3 vs them here. We were always ahead of Auburn before and after him.

With the right coach at the helm, any SEC program can win a conference title.

Not sure how AU is on a higher tier than Florida, Texas, and Tennessee.

because Auburn has a history of just randomly having teams that win titles. They can go 6-6 one year and win the natty the next

OP this list is retarded.

Tennessee is currently is a very good position to get it done and we always will be.

Do you think if Nick Saban had gone to Tennessee instead of LSU and then Bama we wouldn't have an extra few titles sense 98?

Tennessee is a program in which we have everything we need to win championships...just need the right coach and now we got him in Heupel.

The same can be said about UF and Texas ofcourse too.

Auburn is a good program overall and can also win, but is a tier below us whether you like it or not.

The only way I see Auburn clawing its way back to the upper echelon is Saban retiring, and Alabama whiffing on his replacement. Oh, and Freeze has to end up being an excellent hire.

It's all plausible. It might all play out that way. But that's what has to happen for Auburn to get back into the top tier. And it has to happen pretty fast.

Auburn won a NC and played for another while saban has been at bama.

ETA very few schools have had the success Auburn has had against saban. Auburn made a bad hire. That put us in a hole. However, it is not a hole we can't dig out of.

Maybe, I think Freeze was a good hire, but I also think adding OU and TX is only going to hurt AU's chances of winning the SEC. Instead of being every 4-5 years shot at winning the SEC - I see it be a once every 8-10 year occurrence.

2010 was an anomaly with Cam Newton, who carried that team aka lightning in a bottle, without him that team is 7-5 or 8-4.

If AU played every team like it played Bama it would be much better off. One of the cons with Saban is he doesn't seem to put as much emphasis on AU as he does other teams/games. Not to say he doesn't want to win, but he is much more passionate LSU week than he is AU week, which inherently trickles down to the players/program. Bama under Saban typically plays tight and not at its best against AU while it has had some strong performances against some much better LSU teams over the years. Meanwhile at AU all the emphasis (players, students, admin. etc) is on beating him and Bama. But even with these factors, other than 2007 (AU much more talent) and 2017 it has taken crazy, flukey games to beat him. Those are the only two "solid" wins against him him in 16 tries, and in those two games he lost by 10 points or fewer.

Texas- They’ve struggled to win titles in the Big12. Jury is out on if they can do it in the SEC.

Definitely a fair criticism. I'm going to wait until our next hire before I talk about SEC titles. We can't seem to find a coach to win the Big 12. We have a LONG way to go before we can talk SEC titles. A very long way.

It’s tough to consistently be in the conversation when you aren’t the flagship school, and you’re stuck between the two biggest powers in the sport.

It’s a real credit to Gus for his recruiting and running a successful program.

Florida has 3 National Champions this century but more unlikely than the Barn with one.

Can you say homer?

What does UT have that Auburn doesn't besides not being in the same state as Bama? Auburn has won and played for national championships much more recently than UT; that's not including 2004 when they had a great argument to at least be in the championship game. I think you're relying pretty heavily on the past saying Auburn is a tier below UT today in 2023.
