Are we talking setting the program back 10 years type of punishment?

The ultimate punishment is to make them play their games.

In short, yes. We're talking about a decade, not years.

They won't nuke their football program, but they'll bomb it back to the stone ages.

Remember the whole Bama/Albert Means scandal and how far it set back Bama? The punishment will be similar to this, however, the setback will be MUCH worse!!

I heard the NCAA was going to make them change the speed limit on campus to 21mph, in honor of the number of violations they committed.

What does it matter? it's not like they've ever taken this route in their history of the SEC

Just a guess, but I'd say 2 year postseason ban, 5 years probation, and a reduction of 10 scholarships a year for 3 years. Similar to what Bama and USC were hit with and they were crippling for a few years...don't think we'll see the death penalty as they saw how SMU has been pretty much irrelevant since...

It's not going to be nearly as bad as everyone is expecting. The NCAA is a paper tiger. They're basically out of the enforcement business. They may tack on one more year of a bowl ban, and may dock a few more schollies, but nothing serious.

There are two main drivers of an unusually harsh penalty:

1. The fact that the NCAA badly needs to re-establish credibility and control after the Cam Newton / Nevin Shapiro face-plants. With Ole Miss, they have a group as clueless and arrogant as can be imagined and thus the evidence is plentiful.

2. Did I say arrogance? The Ole Miss staff lied, manipulated and fought the NCAA investigators every step of the way. The NCAA won't take prisoners with this one.

All alums will be required to get rid of their labs named Eli and replace them with bulldogs name Dak.

No one would take that route. Once you get to Birmingham, why would you detour through Auburn to get to Atlanta? You'd just take I-20 straight across.

Unless you were just swinging by to poison some trees or something.

That is about what I expect. The 1 year postseason ban which would have no recruiting impact won't be allowed. I could see a few more scholorship reductions though.

I heard that the NCAA is going to mandate that bars close at 9:30.

To represent the pinnacle of this current run being a 9-3 season.

Just don't see this. If the NCAA does not send a very stern message, it will be seen as condoning this type of thing.
