I was born and my baby room was done in crimson. I had crimson carpet, and white walls. I had Bama players, made of plaster, on my walls. I had no choice. I was in third grade before I understood how folks weren’t Bama fans. You do have much of a choice here

I’m a big enough man to regress a bit. How many astronauts have been Bama grads or have been actively involved with space exploration? Mattingly was an Auburn grad and most of know his story. Aubie has 6 and over 800 associated with NASA. You can get funny about me asking the wrong question. It’s cool and deserved. Thats the way of this board. Your fellow boy fired off and I fired back. If you want to we can move on to Fortune 500 CEO’s or malpracticing doctors or Lee Night School for crooked lawyers!

That sounds good, but how many won National Championships??? It’s great if they did things after school…. I’m sure that Bama has some millionaires, recently.

Not sure why you're butthurt about it? Bama is winning a sport, Auburn is putting people in space. Pretty much on the same level

Little lady, I’m, not sure why you think that I’m butthurt. Bama, has won a whole lotta games in the past ten years, but if you’d like to throw Mack and Charlie out there, go a head

How common is this? Because I've met people from Alabama who were born fans of one school, then went to the other, but remained loyal to the original school. I thought that was so crazy.

It’s much more common to switch allegiances when you graduate from the school. Most everyone I met who “stayed loyal” to their original choice - was only at the other school for a year or two.

If you spend 4-5 years in a town, making friends, dreaming dreams, going to football and basketball games - it pulls you in.

There is not any difference between the grads. of both schools. It is the side walk fans of UA that give UA fandom the bad reputation . Fans who do not have a real contact with a school pick teams that are winning. When the UA program was down due to a run of cheating and probation , you could not find an UA fan in Atlanta . Now they are everywhere.

I would have gone to bama if my grades weren’t good enough to get into Auburn.

Raised in Huntsville. Didn't know what a barner was. The only thing folks were declaring when I was just a wee lad was either ALABAMA or Tennessee. And I sure wasn't wearing that retina-damaging orange.

I have lived in Georgia most of my life but was born in Alabama and lived there till I was 15. If you are born and live in Alabama you should be a Tide fan unless you are born in Auburn or are a farmer.

A lot of Bama fans used to be Auburn fans. Not as bad as Ol Miss/ State fans. Some of those people bounce back and forth so much, they may as well have reversible jerseys with each team on one side.

Born and raised in GA in a part of the state that had a big AU presence. When I was a kid most of my friends were Tech fans and until the late 90s it really wasn’t trendy to be a UGA fan. I liked Tech and still do.

Went to church with an AU booster (great guy, Marine, owned a business in our town) whose hobby was Auburn indoctrination. He’d rent a van or bus and take boys from the church to Auburn for games and buy them whatever AU gear they wanted at the bookstores. Guy probably created hundreds of AU fans and a dozen AU grads. He died a couple years ago. Him bribing me to be an AU fan with hats literally changed the course of my life (met wife at AU, etc.).

I was born in Alabama in 1974. My closest relatives were Bama fans and alumni, so the Crimson Tide it was. I graduated from Troy and I’m a huge Trojan, but I still love Bama every bit as much.

If you have no family alumni connection to either school, you pull for the most successful teams. Human nature.

My family were/are Bama fans. Lots of relatives went there so I grew up with it. I went there. The same as any other person I guess.

Yeah everyone I know grew up with it except for the odd guy who grew up in an Auburn house but went to Bama and vice versa.

I mean its not unheard of but its not common. People grow up in an Alabama house and want to be a vet or something and they go to Auburn. But again, I know like one guy like that

I haven’t looked at this in a while but hasn’t Auburn had a higher enrollment until recently?

ETA outside of a few years in the past until recently, Auburn has had a higher enrollment which typically translates into higher grad rate. So is this just another made up stat by tusc?…

Auburn and Alabama have between 200,000 and 250,000 living alumni.
