Strange question for the gumps, but does geography within the state typically dictate whether or not you go to Bama or Auburn?
I didn’t notice too many south Alabama people who went to UA for example but that’s purely anecdotal per Mobile.
Tons of kids from Mobile go to Alabama and Auburn.

My parents met at UA during the Ears Whitworth era, I was born the year Mama called Bear Bryant home, I went to school there in the late 70s and we won 2 National championships, came back to Tuscaloosa for work in the late 80s and early 90s and was there when we won a championship under Stallings, and my daughter was born there. Otherwise, it was just a random choice.

My grandfather would climb a nearby tree to watch games when he was a little boy. Pretty much raised all his kids as Alabama fans growing up.
So basically my family's fandom predates Bryant's coaching tenure - he started watching Alabama about the same time Bryant was a player.

I was originally from Greene County, 34 miles from Tuscaloosa. Pretty much everyone in my family who went to college starting with my great grandad went to Alabama. The people in my family who were Auburn fans were actually the ones who didn't go to college, kind of a black sheep thing I guess to be different and stick it to everyone else in the family.

At least y’all have your super bowl…
If that's the case we sure have won lots of super bowls.

I lived the first 8 years of my life walking distance to Bryant Denny Stadium. People would tailgate in our yard, and my brother and I would walk to the stadium without tickets and beg the gate attendants to let us in. They usually did.

I’m a big enough man to regress a bit. How many astronauts have been Bama grads or have been actively involved with space exploration? Mattingly was an Auburn grad and most of know his story. Aubie has 6 and over 800 associated with NASA. You can get funny about me asking the wrong question. It’s cool and deserved. Thats the way of this board. Your fellow boy fired off and I fired back. If you want to we can move on to Fortune 500 CEO’s or malpracticing doctors or Lee Night School for crooked lawyers![/quote]

In the late 80's/early 90's, we used to wait until right after kickoff and my dad would give the attendant $10 to let the 3-4 of us kids in with him. Good times

My dad and I are Auburn alumni.

BAMA chose me the day PeePaw lifted me up on his shoulders at the wal marks and said, “Sonny Jim, you can have any of these ball caps you like.” I picked what i thought was an Atlanta braves but turned out to be BAMA
