Negotiated deal to leave the American next summer and begin Big 12 play next fall. Buyout between $17M and $20M.

If OU wasn’t poor they would be joining next year

Big 12 buyout will be much more than that and OU doesn’t have the money

I wouldn't bet on it.

Yeah, the Big 12 isn't just going to allow Oklahoma and Texas leave sans penalty now that they're at 12+ teams.

Wasn't referring to the typo, I knew what you meant.
If Texas and OU really wanted to be in the SEC ASAP, they would have negotiated their way out by now. Like all other teams do when they want out of a conference.
I simply don't believe that two of the biggest programs in the game are totally incapable of negotiating an early exit from a middling regional conference made up of glorified mid-majors.
They're stalling on purpose.

How do these smaller programs come up with that kind of money yet tu and OU can't buy their way out?

B12 won't let them exit the contract. Don't think buyout is a factor.
Edit: buyout is well over 100MM. The dick grabbing racists in Austin could probably come up with that. But not the white trash in Norman.
The best part is they both were responsible for setting those penalities when A&M/Mizzou left. Now they're a victim of their own creation in a conference that's barely alive.

I would think that the revenue increase jumping from the AAC to the Big 12 makes a $14-$17 million buyout more palpable than a jump from the Big 12 to the SEC that is estimated to be $75 million each.

That Cincinnati defense was seriously something. They held Bama better than I ever thought possible. First time a baby conference team truly lived up to their billing IMO

I triggered you quicker than I thought I would. It must be hard seeing "little brother" achieve more than you.
Rage on, loser.

Someone didn't watch the game. Brian Robinson (who did virtually nothing all year) couldn't be stopped

2024 I think is the year but I wouldn't be surprised if they wait til 2025. With the playoff expansion on hold there are more unknowns. So, OU isn't in any hurry to spend 40-80mil to get to the SEC one year earlier. OU could get the money but why spend it? Oklahoma needs to improve every facility to not be in the bottom half of the SEC. And an extra year of recruiting to shore of the huge disparity on the defensive side of the ball doesn't hurt either.
That said if ESPN comes in with a check or the Big 12 negotiates OU will be there in 2023.

Yea I think every member of that secondary got drafted and we really didn’t care to challenge Sauce Gardner at all. Hell they performed as good or better than the Oklahoma and Notre Dame teams that made the playoffs
I’m fascinated to see how a Group of 5 team replaces 9 draft picks. It’ll be trial by fire as they go to Arkansas Week 1
