And courts can overrule laws that are anti competitive or violate antitrust rules or involve restraint of trade or impede an individual's right absent mutually agreed on contractual restrictions to market his talents.

The problem is you people keep viewing this as a sport, period. That ship sailed 50 years ago LOL. It's a zillion dollar business and the courts are treating it as a zillion dollar business.

Don’t you guys see how funny all this is? When SEC schools were buying players the last 40 years and winning games you thought the sport was awesome. Now that every school can buy players you suddenly scream the sport is dying, it’s just hilarious.

You don’t see teams like Vandy, BYU, GT, Indiana, etc crying about NIL and the portal. It’s because they’ve been dealing with this issue for decades. Everyone knows UGA bought Herschel, USC bought Bush, FSU bought Winston, UF bought Harvin, Bama bought entire defenses, etc.

I love this new era where everyone is FINALLY playing under the same set of rules. It’s why the teams who have been using bagmen since the 70’s are whining the loudest. The next 20 years of data will prove that all these so called power teams were all bought by bagmen money. The only magical thing about Tuscaloosa, Tallahassee, Athens, or Columbus is the NCAA never investigated them buying players. Now that everyone can do it it’s amazing how non-dominate many of these schools have become.

Three years ago UGA beat my Yellow Jackets 45-0 and it could have been 80-0 if Kirby wanted. Last year 8 overtimes. And it wasn’t because GT is suddenly super good. We went from below average to a little above average. The main thing is UGA’s talent has fallen dramatically since players now have a true market and not just a few bagman schools to sign with. Bama is a shell of their roster 4 years ago. The talent is going to spread around which is awesome and makes for more competition.

Why are Bama fans lashing out at the rest of us over NIL?

I'd rather see less talented kids across the sport play for the school they committed to and let the spoiled prima donnas go straight to the NFL. Just overhaul it completely.

I'm about to this point myself.

Even Congress can't override the Constitution. If you want kids throwing their bodies around the field for almost nothing - and in some cases, definitely nothing - while coaches and admins make hundreds of thousands to millions (without having to go through a 'clearing house'), then repeal the 13th and 14th amendments. Then you can do whatever you like to these student athletes. You won't have to pay them a dime.

Wait til you figure out the PGA who brought in like $2 bil plus in revenue doesn't pay taxes.

MLB, NBA, NFL all pay taxes. shite needs to end. 0 reason Joe has to pay 33% of his earnings to Uncle Sam, but multi-billion dollar revenue a year PGA doesn't pay a cent. So fricked up on so many levels. I might sue them for it.

NIL isn't the reason for this crap with Nico, it's the portal. Stop focusing on NIL, the money is not going away. Fix the unrestricted portal that amounts to yearly free agency and the problem is solved.

NIL and the portal go hand in hand. The portal has created unrestricted free agency agency while NIL has created no salary cap. Both are unsustainable and are doing great harm to college football.

Maybe programs should simply control themselves.

There's plenty of money to go around, but for some reason an element of fans think the idea of players being paid is an absolute crime against humanity if not nature.

It's been a fun last few years.

I prefer the new way to the old way. We always wanted to pay the players anyway.

That’s not a smart take, because the portal wouldn’t be nearly as active if not for the “NIL”, which is nothing but pay for play

"College football is a business".

How many times have we heard this said? I think it's killing college sports also, but if you think it's a business, then you have no room to complain about players getting paid.

Pro sports don't do unrestricted to this extent because they know it would destroy the product.

They also have a lot more legal clout than the NCAA does.
