He lived there for a decade prior to the War and was a superintendent of a local railroad company downtown.

You won’t get an argument from me. It’s not too late for them to fill it.

You may not want to dis Wash U. Academically Mizzou is a tier below, but I do agree with your Mizzou points and why it is the way it is.

yall lost the rams... if mizzou didn't suck you could have filled the void. you didnt.

No. Even if MU was good, I don't think the Rams fanbase would transfer. Some went Chiefs, some went Bears, others scattered and some stopped watching. Basically because of many of the points raised in the OP. There are many other sports diversions.

As long as I can recall there has not been too much passion for the team from anyone who didn't actually attend MU and many times not even from them. My wife has a cousin-in-law who lives in GA who I'm not sure can even read much less have attended the university. His whole finished basement is a Dawg Mecca. He'd miss his kid's birthday before he'd miss watching a GA game.

If MU puts a winner on the field, they will fill the stadium (see 2007, 2008, 2013, 2014). The difference occurs in the down years. The fanbase evaporates unlike some other programs with, I'm assuming, fewer sports to follow. Not saying this is GA because I'm not sure they have down years.

I was watching a Mizzou game a few weeks back and they had Gary P. In the booth.

So yes, he’s still alive AND Sober!

I’m speaking as a former STLan. They’re stuck up assholes and don’t represent the region.

Interestingly enough I saw GP at that game conversing with 3 people near a bar in the premium area. As I was getting in line (he was not) I almost interrupted with “buy you a drink coach” without thinking. Luckily I did not. Would have been awkward!

I would add Babs put Mizzou at huge disadvantage that pinkel and Larry smith finally clawed their way out of. Odom was given a program and all he had to do was manage. He wasn’t ready and didn’t have the personality to recruit. For Mizzou to be successful, they need to find someone who can combine drinks salesmanship with pinkels coaching philosophy. Pinkel wasn’t the greatest tactician, but detailed and generated a lot of loyalty amongst his staff. That can be a game changer knowing you will have same coaching staff throughout your college career.

OU takes the top talent out of MO. Been that way for decades, and DGB and Burden were about the only exceptions to that. Mizzou needs to hire a coach that can win with the talent Pinkle had because that’s more than likely the ceiling. Also none of the youth I know in this state really pay much attention to Mizzou anymore. When I was in HS/college chase daniel and Maclin were there, the KU rivalry was the most heated it’s ever been and I watched MU beat Nebraska for the first time since id been alive at Fauret field. All that interest ended when the regional games and rivalries ended. I don’t think it’ll ever come back with Mizzou in the SEC. That’s before we even get into the decisions the school leadership makes. I mean they got rid of the M hill…that was one of the unique traditions in CFB. Just so many stupid choices.

Agreed. Things are not where they were when pinkel was coach. But never say never. Never would have thought Nebraska would be where they are today. With all the stl and kc talent, Mizzou will always have a chance if they find the right combination of coach and recruiter. Obviously this is one fans opinion.

This is all correct. It was a miracle if a MU game was shown on television at all then. They were the dark ages.

So what’s the reason UT has been a flaming pile of sewage since Fulmer left? You were just dicking around and not taking football seriously? LMMFAO

Hey I got the shorter version-

A lot of the SEC states are poor, redneck, and even ghetto in their most populous areas... but it's fricking cold in Missouri and y'all don't pay enough money to put up with that.

Student body, game day, etc. is Big 10 stuff anyways and there's too many schools to compete with between the two conference because the majority of Big 10 programs are even better to play for.

So in other words, get out of the SEC, because you aren’t winning on a regular basis there
