I suppose with our current AD it is fitting we are at the bottom of the standings with their past AD. Perhaps there is something in common.
East St. Louis is in Illinois. Maybe Eli does not yet control the Illinois state line.

The Hobby Lobby photo reminds me that my daughter had dropped off a poster scheduled for framing at that tornado-damaged Tuscaloosa Hobby Lobby in the photo. Weeks later she receives a call from one of the Birmingham Hobby Lobby's informing her that her poster was found in the Birmingham area and was dropped off at the Birmingham Hobby Lobby for framing. That was a powerful tornado carrying debris many miles.

A second story also comes to mind. My wife worked at a physical therapy office on Bryant Drive. Just before the tornado passed through in the vicinity of 15th, she went out the back door of the office to go home on McFarland crossing the river. At the time she left the office, one of her patients went out the front door going in the opposite direction toward 15th. She was never seen or heard from again. My wife suspects she was one of the victims of the tornado.
UT proving Bruce correct that Miami of Ohio did not belong in tourney.
Auburn for not being selected for tourney after UT beat down of Miam of Ohio. Bruce knew what he was talking about.

Pettifogger, That was a great post unless you are in your twilight years and don't have the 20 years to wait for AU to be relevant again in football and basketball. I'll just hope I can hang on. Otherwise, I hope you will carry on from after I am gone. WDE!
Awestruck, I see above you are staying pat. Missed that. Sorry.
So you have a problem with the word sensible. Let's leave that word out and why don't you respond to whether you would offer the name of a replacement or stay pat.
Corch, we cannot all be geniuses like you with the perfect post. My intention was to elicit opinions, including names of potential replacements available now, or as some have suggested, including you, that you would not replace Pearl Jr. Guys like you discourage sensible posts when there is a real debate among many AU basketball fans whether Pearl Jr. should have been given anything other than an interim position, much less a 5-year contract. Convince me that anyone else in the SEC would have hired him as their basketball coach without any previous head coaching experience. I'm listening.
For those of us who have not seen the Gettysburg's addresses referred to in this post, it would be beneficial to see Corch's and the other entertaining post referenced. They must have been remarkably memorable for some of you and I would welcome the opportunity to see these hall of fame addresses.
In fact a fun topic would be hall of fame posts from the past that have had enduring memories for whatever reason for the Auburn family posters here.
I recall the great Nebraska teams of the 60's and early 70's were known for their older teams with lots of key redshirt seniors. Those are days of a bygone era now with NIL promoting a highest bidder mentality and early departure for the NFL.
This is the most interesting post among all I have read so far AUTiger789. Good effort.
Memphis would be a good fit for Durkin as the next HC. One of the recurrent knocks on his HC candidacy at AU was that he needed to have demonstrated he could win as a HC elsewhere first (after the Maryland problems and multiple stops as a DC afterwards). If he leaves AU, then I hope he goes to Memphis as their HC rather than to another SEC school as the DC. Another lateral move is not in his best interest or that of AU.
Freeze did not come across well in what I've seen so far. I was however impressed with Napier. He seems like a good no nonsense guy. I hope UF does well this year and keeps him as coach.
Bernie Kosar and Miami, not FSU, beat Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. Nebraska was a really talented team. Not sure how they managed to lose that game.
I agree with others that Charley Pell should be in this discussion. For those who may not be familiar with Pell's importance in the turnaround of the floundering Gator athletic program and culture in the late 1970's, I recommend googling Franz Beard's informative historical article entitled "Legacy of Charley Pell". It is a compelling piece that puts his efforts in perspective and, as Beard argues, sets the table for the Spurrier and Meyer successful eras at UF.
Apparently CBM can transfer within the SEC if the MSU player is transferring to us now.
That is Charlie Pell's/ Galen Hall's 1984/1985? team was loaded and a terrific team.
