Even after seeing this stated about daily for the past decade, it's still hilarious to me because back in the Big Eight/Big 12 days, Mizzou got made fun of for being too Southern and not fitting the mold there. You should see the shite Kansas fans call us. They certainly aren't yankee pejoratives.
Mizzou are just middle of the map misfits, a lukewarm fit in a bunch of different conferences.

Seriously, it seems like the university and majority of your fanbase is a better fit for the Big 10. Do you agree? Due to all of the items you listed, it seems like you guys have a lot more in common/same issues with Minnesota and Purdue than say Arkansas and Tennessee.

I lived in MO for 20 yrs. and I can tell you the fanbase is not even remotely close to the southern states. I've had some tell me that its all about Basketball there, but they suck at that too.
For a state with one Major College and the population they have, they could be something you would think, not so. Meth, well thats another story!

Like Zou83 said, we’re just misfits. The only conference we truly were a fit for was the Big 8 and it’s not coming back.

People from Kansas love the Chiefs and Royals too.
Arkansas has a huge Chiefs and Cardinals fan base.
Both are 3-0 this year.

Also, Mizzou sucks because the BOC sucks. They are pussies who are always concerned about being politically correct. Our university president is a such a douche that even our faculty gave him crap reviews on a recent survey.
It’s simple. Better leadership at the top. Pay big money on a proven coach(es). Win games. That’s it. The rest will happen.

I chose to live in MO because its where my wife was from and she wanted to be there with her family, and enjoyed it alot. There is really good people there!. Was just stating the facts that Missouri people do not get into College Football is all!

You are on target with all of your points. I got one of my grad degrees from Wash U in St. Louis. There was no fondness for Southerners, with inordinate, if not irrational support for ND. I feel your pain for Mizzou and its (mis)place in the SEC. Probably belongs in BIG10.

STL has a very different culture/feel than the rest of MO (not saying that’s good or bad, but just the way it is)

Yep. Very true. STL is it’s own animal. The eastern side of the KC metro- burbs like Liberty, Lees Summit, Blue Springs, etc are black and gold.
KC is unique like that. Makes it fun to mix it up with Kansas, Kansas State and to some extent Nebraska fans.
Mizzou just needs to win. Win and the support is there just like it was when we were going to Big 12 football championships, and back to back SEC Championship games and winning the Big12 basketball tournament championship.
We desperately need better leadership at the highest levels. Not just in our athletic department
