Exactly. We don't need to follow each other anywhere. We played in different leagues for 80 years. Both sides just have to agree to play every season. These clowns are laughably ignorant.

My sense, as a Texas fan.

OU - biggest rivalry. In name, Main state school v. main state school, helped by a unique neutral site game. Both schools have the most historical success in their states, so there is some grudging respect. Feels intense in Dallas just because so many OU alums around here.

A&M - good rivalry, hurt by last decade, but so many alums around the entire state always lots of ribbing going on, helped by A&Ms weirdness. I think this rivalry will be better now than it was in the past, just because in recent history the two never seemed to be good at the same time.

LSU - no rivalry to speak of, hope it becomes a thing. Wish they just played every game in New Orleans.

Arkansas - seems like Texas sends lots of its students to Arkansas these days so that can help revive this old rivalry.

Laughing is not melting. The entire country sees it now. It's not a melt. It's not even an LSU thingy.

It's ironic, really.

OU - Amazing program, respected rival. Normal fans. Our biggest rival

A&M - Joke programs, zero respect, all hat and no cattle. Weirdest fans in sports. 2nd biggest rival

Arkansas - A program with some decent history, nightmare backwards fans back in the day but probably more normal now, Will be our 3rd biggest rival once again.

LSU - I don't think they have a true rival and they really don't give a shite about the programs listed. I used to like their program and fans until I spent significant time around here. Big recruiting rival that might become more.

My sense a guy who grew up in Texas in a Sooner household, went to A&M, and married a Longhorn whose whole family is burnt orange to the core.

Texas/OU - One of the Granddaddy rivalries of all time that built its rep on the high points of the two programs from the 1950s through the 1970s. The neutral site status in a major metro area has made it an annual bash for dedicated alums for years. I loved going to it with my family in the 80s and still enjoy watching it. I avoid the State Fair on Gamedays. The financial realities of college football have made these two schools more of a pack recently.

The rivalry has wobbled a bit the last 25 years or so as one team seems to be up while the other is down.

Texas/Texas A&M - It was for many years up until the late 1970s truly a rivalry fueled by A&Ms generally inferior status financially and academically and a degree of class warfare as the small town Ag kids in the Corps took on their larger city-dwelling neighbors.

Since A&M has blew up and improved greatly on almost every front starting in the 1980s, it is more of a faux rivalry as suddenly just as many kids from suburban Houston or Dallas are now at A&M studying finance with plans to work at a consulting firm. There is just so much more common ground between the two schools. No one seemed all that sad when the rivalry ended except for a few really loud die-hards who "Hate TU" because their Dad and Grandad and Great Grandad also hated TU.

Arkansas - Once meant something in the Nixon era but they have been gone so long no one really cares anymore.

LSU - No rivalry there. The SEC tried to manufacture one but nothing kindled.

I don't think there is any true hatred between LSU, Texas and Oklahoma fans. They all respect the other programs on some level (whether they admit it or not) because they have all had some measure of success. I'm sure Texas and Oklahoma really want to beat each other every year because they are true rivals, but I don't see much vitriol going back and forth between the two.

A&M is just the retarded little brother who constantly comes charging into the room yelling, "We could buy your school!!!" until you knock him into the corner and go back to your card game.

Longhorns fans sure don't act like they hate OU. Never see or hear anything about them from Longhorns on here. All we ever see are the constant aggie related posts made by longhorn fans. It's weird they're even doing it this week. I see from your posts that you're both a longhorn fan and a LSU fan. How are you going to be both now that you're in the same league?
Look at my username. Beyond that it's possible to hate your rival one weekend of the year and be somewhat respectful all of the other ones. That doesn't mean I'll ever root for BloU to win anything, but unlike aggy they have earned at least a little respect.

As an LSU fan, I'd be hard-pressed to say who LSU's biggest rival is. Since it's the only Power 5 program in the state, there is no natural in-state school for a rivalry like UT/ TAMU, Bama/ Aubie, and Ole Miss/ MSU. Historically, LSU and Ole Miss were rivals, but I think from an Ole Miss perspective MSU and the Egg Bowl have been bigger games vs. the "Magnolia Bowl" of LSU/ Ole Miss.

Over my lifetime it's alternately been Florida, Auburn, and Bama - it depended on who was good at the time more than anything, or on individual things that fueled a "rivalry." (beating Spurrier's #1 Gators, Tuberville lighting up cigars and stomping on the Tiger eye in Death Valley, Saban becoming Bama's HC, etc) It's kinda unique in that way to be a fan - every SEC game is big. Well, unless it's Vandy, I guess.

If the new SEC has LSU as permanent home-and-home opponents with UT, OU, and TAMU, I'm good with that - but a part of me would miss Ole Miss at Halloween and Florida after the first cold front of the season. (traditionally 2nd Saturday of October) But c'est la vie - GEAUX TIGERS!

Hate level:

TAMU - 10/10
Never understood how uppity Texas fans dismiss this game as anything other than hate (except 1999). I want them to lose everything from quidditch to football.

OU - 8/10
Except when we play in Dallas, it’s 10/10.
I figured this out when TAMU played OU in the cotton bowl with JFF

PIG - 7/10
I don’t remember much from the rivalry except when my mom would tell me about it. Fayetnam….. game of the century etc…. I have trashy family members in DFW who like the pigs. No idea why. Annoying.

LSU - 1/10
Maybe that changes. But, I love anything anti TAMU. And it seems every LSU poster makes every TAMU poster look like a child in a man’s game on this site.

Hookem fellas.

LSU doesn’t have a traditional rival. LSU vs Bama is our biggest game the past couple decades. Both teams take their bye before playing. It’s an SEC rivalry, but I think they hate Auburn and Tennessee way more than us.

aTm came off very obnoxious when they first joined the SEC and found this site. And they respected Bama so much it was nauseating, if not, homoerotic at times.

Had they just joined and tried not to duplicate us and found their own way; it wouldn't be so bitter.

At least on our end.

Maybe sounds hypocritical to say this, but they want to be the biggest swinging dick in the room.

They have the money….. they have the fans….. they have the support…..

But they will always be pooooor aggy.

They will look for someone to beat Texas and LSU so they can hide under their skirt and talk shite. That’s the TAMU way.

This is very, very wrong. I’m an LSU fan and I’m 36, you will get a lot of different answers from LSU fans since we have no in state rival.

1) Auburn and UGA is a bigger rivalry than Texas and Arkansas. UGA is just new to success (and you can tell by the way they act) and Auburn hasn’t been good in a long time.

2) Bama was by far LSU’s most hated from 2012-2019, some haven’t changed but many have, however, it hasn’t been the same since Saban started slowing down and had to start relying on phantom titles no one outside of Bama acknowledges or even remembers, and freak occurrences that put him in position to lose yet another mulligan against a team that already beat their asses. As a result, and Bama fans will never admit it, but a lot of us don’t take Bama as seriously anymore, because Bama fans are stupid as hell and for the most part, horrible and disgusting people who contribute very little to society.

3) Iron Bowl is the biggest rivalry game in the SEC and when Auburn is good, it’s not even close.

4) Florida will always be hated because of how bad they beat us in the 90s. I still consider 1997 to be the biggest regular season win of my lifetime.

5) aTm fans have climbed up the list especially for those of us that live in Texas. They’re smarter than Bama fans which makes them more annoying, and unlike Bama fans, they aren’t completely worthless people, and have money, which makes them more dangerous.
