Traintracks by CBB Fields

Watching LOU/ MIA’s super regional and noticed the train rolling behind right field, and it hit me: LSU has a track just beyond RF, and another Super Regional I watched had the same thing. It seems like maybe that is pretty common. Is this a pattern of some sort? Or just accidental?
Other than at Tennessee of course, since their field is basically a little league field. A train track might would be an improvement there.

x4 on the Renaissance. I go to BTR every year and stay for a conference there. The Sonesta is a good option because it is so close to campus and Alex Box, but it's likely full/ insanely priced for the Super Regional.
The Renaissance has an interesting bit of history attached to it as well. (not haunted or anything though - for that you'd need to stay at the Myrtles in St. Francisville about an hour north of BTR) Jimmy Swaggart was a big-time televangelist in the 1980's based in Baton Rouge on Bluebonnet south of I-10, back when that whole area was fields and trees. When he was exposed for infidelity and his empire crashed, his ministry was in the process of building a Bible college that included a 15-floor dormitory building. The building was half-finished and sat for decades as a huge concrete monument to his personal fall, right across the street from where he continued to have church services. Then 10 or 15 years ago Radisson or Marriott (can't remember which) bought it and turned it into a top-flight hotel and convention center. Nice place to stay, but if you look at it with that in mind you can see the lines of the original brutalist architecture.
There's a cool bar on the first floor as well.

Bruh 3 pages in and ain't no one mentioned Port Barre as a speed trap town? Got one there driving west on 190 years ago and after the cop handed me the ticket, he kind of hesitated, looked back in, and said, "If you pay the fine, it'll go down on your record as a non-moving violation."
49 in a 45, not sure if it's the same now as 20 years ago but it was the only stretch of 190 that went from 65 to 45 with no 55mph stretch in between - and the cop sat right at the 45 speed limit sign and lit you up if you passed it above 45. Bald-faced revenue stream instead of enforcement.
As for Rosepine, I have extended family from there. My maternal grandparents grew up in Rosepine during the Depression, got married there in 1941 just before WW2 then moved to Lake Charles. We go to Lewis Cemetery in Deridder every year on Easter weekend, and a few years ago went up to Rosepine to try to find the old farm but we couldn't find it. My mom lights up about Ethan Frey because of the Rosepine connection.
There really is something special about small town Louisiana. I miss it sometimes.

Will be tough to decide on the main course. Saw a ton of stuff.
My go-to is the Chimes Club sandwich with the fried chicken breast. I'd also recommend the shrimp and grits, but if you do a combo of apps and the seafood gumbo, crawfish etouffee, or red beans and rice with sausage you'll be satisfied and not at all disappointed. Fantastic draft beer selection - try Abita Purple Haze (raspberry lager) or Amber on tap.

x2 on Chimes. Try the spinach and artichoke dip. Not a unique dish, but theirs is spicy and they serve it with fried lasagna noodles instead of chips.
Louie's Cafe right down the street for lunch/ brunch on Saturday before heading to Alex Box.
Parrain's, Mike Anderson's, or maybe Drusilla Seafood for a seafood dinner.
Coffee Call for a beignet breakfast - get the Cafe Au Lait with them. *chef's kiss*

It’s the best rivalry in college and I’m jealous. It’s just such a pure hatred
To me it's less of a big brother/ little brother thing...more like twins, or maybe same-age cousins that used to be close until one did something terrible to the other. Now they are mortal enemies - like don't leave them alone in a room with weapons type enemies, yet they are constantly exposed to each other which just makes the hate grow deep. I try to watch the Egg Bowl for that very reason - it doesn't matter the record, what may be on the line, nothing. Just hate.

The funny thing to me is when a thread on here turns into a MSST/ Ole Miss slap fight. There seems to be some real legitimate underlying hate there that Texas/ TAMU and Bama/ Auburn just doesn't seem to have.

Congrats Moo State! That is a coup to get an established, proven coach. I'll say a Moo and ring a cowbell for y'all, and look forward (hopefully) to LSU/ MSST next season.

Other than Mizzou? I think they were eliminated some time in April....
If I were betting on it I'd say Moo State. They have every reason in the world to 0-2 it and have it be beneficial to the program overall. There is enough talent there to not be the first out, but they have no reason to extend their season, either. Rip the bandaid off type of situation.

Good point. Those teams end up with a 10-game power-4 schedule. Well, except maybe Georgia - 9.5 game Power 4?

What makes college sports so fun are the rivalries and traditions. I've forced myself to get onboard with NIL and the transfer portal but if they start taking away the rivalry games that have been played for 100 years, then I'll draw the line. I know i'm probably in the minority with this stance but oh well.
I feel that, but the reality is that is sentimental. For AD's, University presidents, and Sankey/ the SEC as an entity, sentiment is what gets talked on the air and in press conferences, but in meetings what gets talked about is money. Honestly, that's nothing new. SCAR and Arky got added to the SEC to create divisions and an SEC Championship game, which means more money. Texas and OU got added to help strengthen the competitiveness conference in a time where CFB has become a blatant minor league for the NFL rather than "student-athletes."
Simply put, the more SEC teams in the playoff, the more money comes in vs a 9th conference game that may risk having the max number in the playoff, like last season.
It's still possible to be passionate though, IMO. The product on the field is better than ever; the pageantry and pride is still there. The reality is that money has always driven these decisions, it just used to hide behind the pageantry and pride. No one likes seeing how the sausage is made.
