One time when Bama was banned from post season, they scheduled an extra game in Hawaii.

Did it in 2002 and 2003. At that time there was (and may still be) a loophole that let teams who played @Hawaii have an extra regular season game. When Bama got the post-season ban, they scheduled the the games for the week after the Iron Bowl.

The reasoning given was that it was to be a reward to the players - and I'm sure they enjoyed the trip - but have no doubt it was a big double middle finger to the NCAA.

It's a little different than the Vandy situation though. They were scheduled months before the start of the 2002 season.

I really doubt it happens but it appears they really are trying to do an extra game. More power to them. I just don't know who would be knocked out to allow them in or if the committee would even consider these games.

They probably do belong in the playoffs but the committee has to jam the participation trophy teams down our throats.

You’re right about the committee. They probably won’t accept the result if the game this year. It may not be for nothing though. These are the types of things that force change. One way or another

Play tu on a neutral field since they’re the first two out. They didn’t really lose to tu, they just ran out of time.

I heard Auburn scheduled 7 national championship games and won them, but we don’t know when it happened.

They were all won off the field by the Auburn AD in a single day. And that is awesome.

That shite ain’t happening but if Texas gets in with 3 losses and Vandy gets left out with2 they should firebomb the SEC office because Sankey will have some ‘splaining to do.

Get rid of the championship games and have play in games.

Last four IN play first 4 out this weekend

So 9-16
10-15
11-14
12-13

Would all play this weekend.

What matchups would those games be?

Bowl games or home games?

I’m not calling you out as I think most people feel this way, but this thought process is 100% why records are the only thing that really matters..

Texas played 5 games vs the Top 14 in the current CFP rankings.

Vanderbilt played 2.

Texas went 3-2.
Vanderbilt went 0-2.

Texas beat Vanderbilt.

The schedules across CFB are all very different, even those in the SEC.

Vanderbilt lost to Alabama.
Texas lost to Georgia.
Those cancel out.

Texas beat 11-0 Texas A&M.
Vanderbilt beat 8-3 Missouri.

Texas beat 10-1 Oklahoma.
Vanderbilt beat 8-3 Tennessee.

Vanderbilt lost to Texas.
Texas lost to Florida and Ohio State.

It’s damn near impossible to actually compare the teams.. but H2H has to count.

I have no idea why Miami is behind Notre Dame.

This year, I think 16 teams is the only way to truly grab everyone deserving.. This was true last year as well.

The middle teams are way harder to judge than the top imo.

Don't blame them at all.

There's a good chance an above average team like Notre Dame is going to be chosen over them.

Another team that's ranked somewhere in the area of 11-15 currently should agree to play them.

Logistics would be a nightmare and you'd have to get a team that would "move the needle" to agree, which would have required pre-planning for this scenario. I've heard Puerto Rico also works because it isn't contiguous. 2 HBCU's planned to play there this year and the venue was changed last minute because of too much rain and they couldn't get the baseball field converted to a football field in time.

I'd love to see Pavia playing Utah or USC in a muddy baseball field in PR as much as anyone, but this could never happen.

Get rid of conference championship games and have 4 play in games between teams like BYU, Miami, Vandy, etc.
