The guy is probably going to be great but jeez...some have him hyped for Heisman after one half of football.

You can't "NB4" the most obvious answer to the question you're asking. You already know the answer.

Brandon Jacobs? I mean he was 6-6 and 400 pounds with 1.5% body fat and ran a 4.2 forty.

Cam

He wasn't hyped much at all. He didn't even win the job until the very end of spring and Gus didn't really know what he had until the LSU game.

Edit: OK not LSU game

Clowney after the hit comes to mind.

He was only a Sophomore that year. (the hit)

ETA: you can even say just going into his Freshman year. Guy had so many people calling him the best recruit ever.

Tebow was hyped more and in a similar situation as far as competing with an established QB on a championship level team.

Trevor Lawrence is getting some pretty big hype and he hasn’t even played a snap of college football yet.

Trevor Lawrence living up to his hype would make this Clemson team an all-time team at least on paper.

That DL with a game changer again at QB would be very imposing especially with the lack of in conference competition this year in the ACC.

What, specifically is false about that?

He won the job after A-Day. LSU was his coming out game. I was on the sideline next to him at A-Day and was shocked about how imposing he was, but he didn't light the world on fire that game.

Lol that was the 8th game of the year, Gus knew what he had in Cam by the Clemson and South Carolina games that year.

He was more of an enigma than hype. We were all wondering what might be.

I guess I'm thinking about the highlights from that game.

My point... Cam was nowhere nearly as hyped as Tua or even Jeremy Johnson before the season started.

But Chizik and offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn didn't know that was coming.

quote:

"In the first game, you saw a lot of skills that would make you go, 'Hmmm.' In terms of where we've gone with him in the offense, it's been more of, 'Boy, we see he can do this,' or 'Boy, we see he can handle this many runs,'" Chizik said. Even now, Chizik said, "We're still trying to figure it out. But week by week, the marriage has grown."
