Last night at LSU-Vandy women's game...my first SEC game this year, men's or women's. After the anthem, people starting to sit back down...announcer asks everyone to remain standing for Lift Every Voice and Sing. I'm like, wtf?

LSU fans around me had already started to sit down. Is this a new thing in the SEC, or is this just Vandy being Vandy and doing Vandy things?

Btw...LSU women didn't come out of the locker room until after both songs.

No.

They played the National Anthem. Then they played the song that the media and SJWs are trying to push down our throats as the Black National Anthem.

Congress and the President passed a law in 1931 creating one National Anthem, and it isn't black or white.

Did they not consider that Alabama fans are not in physical shape to be able to stand for two songs?!

Reason why a lot of blacks doesn’t recognize the national anthem is because it wasn’t created for black people. When that song was written, black people were still slaves and wasn’t free.

What’s lost in this is the anthem was written in celebration of defending Ft McHenry in 1812. ALL Americans were “slaves” to the British.
If anyone should not stand it’s the Native American.

My best friend and Bama roommate from the late seventies has started following women's basketball and had been wanting to see LSU. So he got tickets and drove up from Birmingham.

The last women's game I had seen prior to last night as when we were seniors at Bama and sometimes the women played before the men, so since students had to get there early to get the best seats, that meant sitting through several minutes of women's basketball.

Like we need you to fricking lecture us on the history of it. You really that think we didn't know?

When the frick was the Stars and Stripes adopted as our flag? I'm pretty sure that was during slavery also, since the original only had 13 stars.

When are they going to demand their own flag?

I guess you mean after the anthem started? Otherwise nothing new to report.

I've been going to games for decades and and have watched people do what they want. Frankly, a lot of folks haven't even got to their seats yet.

Come on, man. You're a Bama fan, so I know you can read. I meant exactly what I said. After the anthem.

So, you've heard Lift Every Voice and Sing often before Bama games in Coleman then?

When it was written half of my family tree was living in Ireland under British rule, starving to death and made their way to over to the US years later to live as indenture servants, but we still recognize the National Anthem.

No, this is school-by-school. Vandy is more liberal so they’re more likely to sing LEVAS
