So were your family beaten killed and raped? Forced to work in fields for free?

The anthem before every damn game is already unnecessary. We have to do two now?

Here’s my simple explanation and hopefully it makes sense. Most of this kneeling/disrespecting the flag and anthem really got popular when Trump arrived on scene. It was a way for the people who didn’t support Trump an outlet to throw a mini tantrum. I don’t care, they have every right. But magically it disappeared when Biden was elected, then all of the sudden it is cool to stand again and have patriotism.

Now Trump is back on the scene and it’s election season. This is nothing more than people showing their dislike of Trump rather than the country as a whole. I do think the kneelers and non patriotic people are doing it for attention and it’s a bad look. After Trump was elected it kind of got out of control and then we had the summer of love (riots) then laws started being changed and bail started going away. It allowed people to abuse the system and just be a menace to society with the democrats funding the bail to get these idiots out of jail.

It’s sad but it shows just how powerful the media is to an uninformed person.

Hopefully we can all come together and not let the media divide us. I will say that the non patriotic people finally quit getting the FaceTime and now we see democrats coming around and realizing that most Americans do not like the look. Between 2015-2020, Hollywood and the media pushed for the ones that hated their country but it back fired. I’m also anxious to see what happens now that most understand we were all lied to about Trump and Russia, and the countless other fake stories put out. Trump’s approval rating with the younger demographic and black peoples in general is rising substantially so I do not think it’s going to stick around.

We all need to understand that this country has its flaws but we’ve learned and we are striving to be the best we can while acknowledging we made mistakes in the past.

Lastly, I’ve really enjoyed the show that looks into the prominent black racist, reparations group has been shown to have racist ancestors and now we all know, no matter who you are, your past family is something you can’t deny. A lot of people who hate the patriarchy and racism had family members who were confederates or slave owners. It’s amazing the famous people this affects.

We need to unite and just move forward looking for an upward path for the future of our country, instead of trying to shame others. It’s not cool to use reverse racism.

They sit during the Star Spangled Banner. No problem. I sit for their Song. Not an issue. I won’t stand for it.

Statistically, black Americans are FAR more likely to have a slaveholding ancestor than white Americans

You make a good point. There have not been many city blocks going up in flames the last two years.

What’s lost in this is the anthem was written in celebration of defending Ft McHenry in 1812. ALL Americans were “slaves” to the British.
If anyone should not stand it’s the Native American.

Americans were no longer under British rule during the War of 1812. America had already won the War of Independence from Britain in 1782 after declaring independence in 1776.

There is no shade of gray about this. Our nation has only one national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner." Vanderbilt is completely woke on just about everything, right up there with Harvard.

We play "The Star-Spangled Banner" before every game to show our national pride and most importantly to honor those who fought for our freedom, which is in great peril right now. I hope we never lose this tradition, and I do not want to have its importance watered down by identity songs that only serve to divide us.

I don't mind taking off my hat and standing up. It's all just a show. Let's not pretend it's more.

Like eagles, banging some hide, or trifectas, you get numb to it eventually. There's neither pride nor watering down.

Ironically, many of the same people who are most vocal about the horrors of slavery 200 years ago are the same people who say trafficking does not occur in this country today.
