His coaching career is on an upward trajectory right now, would the call home be strong enough? He'd be wise to wait and be the guy that replaces the guy they hire now to navigate them through this potential mess. Like Luck and Kiffin at Ole Miss.

Why not get Jim Grobe? He won the ACC at Wake Forest, guided Baylor through the mess they fired Briles for, and would know coming in he's there to get them through a mess then go. Baylor was in a better place at the end of his 1 year stop there than before he arrived. Just an idea

Honestly, if he would actually take the job in the current circumstances it wouldn't be a bad hire. Gus isn't a cheater and his floor is mediocrity. He is the kind of coach they need right now.

Tennessee needs a competent AD and a culture/team building coach.

An example would be someone like Bill Clark.

Not necessarily advocating for his hire, but you get the point.

Has he turned the down yet?

He turns down lists of jobs.

He announced yesterday he turned down the Chiefs job which was odd because they have a successful coach already

While I do think it would be a good hire, it would also reduce Auburn's buyout.

No wonder the Auburn fans are suggesting it.

Of course when the NCAA comes after Will Friend, it won't matter.

No big name will take that job. Gonna be a young coach with a short resume.

And have to start over from square 1. This is how hiring a cheater hurts Auburn.

The barn has saved enough money on Gus and Steele's salary to pay that buyout over 5 years.

Honestly? Probably a pretty good hire for them right now. Gonna take a hot minute to dig out from under this one.

Nope. I would rather have Kevin Steele for a couple years to play the Matt Luke role.

Seeing as our TE coach was also an OL coach after his NFL career ended I think we'd be ok in the interim, but thanks for your concern dickhead
