He’s the right man for the job. Just think about that checkered sweater vest he’d sport on Saturdays.

He'd actually be a good hire for them.

Probably better than anybody they could actually get right now.

Does he keep Steele on staff?

Where they are now, he really would be.

Gus has a reputation for running a clean program, puts a decent product on the field, and seemed to be really liked by his players. He never lost the teams no matter what adversity they faced.

Pretty much exactly what Tennessee needs right now.

Steele’s already in Knoxville. Chad is unemployed. Won’t be any problem at all getting the band back together in time for spring practice.

He’d probably finally help UT beat Saban. They should make it happen!

Maybe, but it will be a lot harder without the JHS voodoo working for him.

I’d take him to stabilize the program and ride out these postseason ban(s). But seeing how Steele is here now, probably won’t happen

He’d be the best SEC hire this cycle if it happened.

LOL!! Gus the pus to Tennessee to be with his old buddy, Kevin Steele! UT loves sinkholes and they'd sure be in one with that combo.

He would run a clean program. They need stability. I’d love to see Gus get there and fire Steele and Garner out the gate.

Gus at Barn
'13 - 12-2 (7-1) #2/2 won SEC lost in BCS title game
'14 - 8-5 (4-4 #23/22
'15 - 7-6 (2-6)
'16 - 8-5 (5-3) #22/#24
'17 - 10-4 (7-1) #12/10 won SEC West
'18 - 8-5 (3-5)
'19 - 9-4 (5-3) #14/14
'20 - 6-5 (6-4)

Tennessee
'13 - 5-7 (2-6
'14 - 7-6 (3-5)
'15 - 9-4 (5-3) #23/22
'16 - 9-4 (4-4) #24/22
'17 - 4-8 (0-8)
'18 - 5-7 (2-6)
'19 - 8-5 (5-3)
'20 - 3-7 (3-7)

Pretty sure that at this point Tennessee fans would be happy to have what Gus was doing at Auburn. Never mind that Barn was usually dealing with a tougher schedule than Tenner so it would be likely Gus could do better in Knoxville. Gus wouldn't be 4-5 vs Vanderbilt the way Tennessee has been the last 9 years (4-4 last 8). He also went 3-5 vs Bama in his time at Auburn while Tennessee has lost 14 straight to the Tide.

Be interesting to see what Gus could do with YellaWood, Lowder & Tigers Unlimited not controlling his every move.

Gus would not keep Steele after he stabbed Gus in the back. Why would anyone want to work with Steele?

Tennessee is going to need to appease some ncaa gods by hiring a man or woman of non-whiteness.

That may take a year off the postseason ban.

I'm sure he is eager to work with his dear friend and trusted colleague Kevin Steele again.

I think if Gus learned to adapt his offense and to trust his offensive staff to do their jobs he'd be a great coach
