You know damn well one of those parties are going to tell you that. The best you're going to get are "sources familiar"

Grubb is making $2M already. Nick is offering like $2.5M.

Or perhaps, and just hear me out, he decided he was comfortable at his current job and decided to say no.

It isn't a shocking development and doesn't mean the world is falling. It's ok, I promise.

I don't think that's the case, SOG. Yesterday, sources out of Washington were saying if Grubb was offered the job he would accept. It's likely Grubb flew all the the way from Washington with intent to take the job but wasn't offered.

It was also reported yesterday that other candidates were being interviewed.

This seems like Washington sources putting out info to make this seem like a win, but it's likely either Saban wanted more time and Grubb didn't want to wait, or Saban simply wanted to go in another direction.

Edit- It's also being reported more candidates are being interviewed today. Saban is taking his time.

That’s a stretch. Can you provide a link to where you’re getting this bc everything I read says otherwise.

It's most likely that it really doesn't matter.

No, it doesn't, but this is a message board and it's fun to discuss.

That’s what I said earlier. No one knows anything. Speculation is and what has been reported on radio even when he was in Tuscaloosa was Saban was interviewing other candidates. Speculation would be he either one didn’t want to wait or two their philosophies don’t match. Either way it’s not Grubb so who cares.

I don't know who I'd even want at this point, I don't think there are really any can't miss candidates.

It's not a stretch at all. If you're depending on sites like ESPN to keep you up to date on what's happening inside Alabama then you're going to be left out to dry. If you want to join a few pay sites you can read the same things I do. Thanks for your interest in the program.

Let's just say for argument sake that he did turn down the offer, which I don't really believe when everyone is relying on "a source close to the situation".

There was another person who turned down Alabama, in fact it was the head coaching position and everyone had a good laugh at us..RICH RODIGUEZ!

I think we had and are still having the last laugh on that one.

Plenty of good offensive coaches in college and the NFL the could have interest. Guy at Duke is a perfect example.

Doesn't mean we'll hire any of them.

The Athletic is usually a very reliable source of information.

The athletic is being fed bad info. Saban is doing more interviews today, and he interviewed more than just Grubb yesterday, but go ahead and believe what you want.

Who are these candidates? And how do you, as a random message board poster, have better information than The Athletic?

I think it will be the most interesting assistant hire of the offseason.

I tend to prefer college guys over NFL guys as it seems to take them a bit to adjust. I think you see a lot wider range of schemes in college than in the NFL. They're also having to get used to recruiting and working a different schedule.
