I didn’t watch any Washington football so what would I know.
Washington was extremely fun to watch this year. That guy is a good one. I wanted us to pursue him when Briles left but then UW bumped his salary outside of our reach.

I mean you ended up with one guy who became an SEC coach, one is working with the Patriots in the NFL.
Its a position that has put people in better jobs
Then why did the OC from Washington say no thanks?

1st. We don't know if he was even offered the job

2. Not everyone has what it takes to coach in the SEC particularly a program like Bama, GA, or LSU. The pressure on these guys is HUGE! You can bet he has less that half the pressure at his current job in WA.
You’re coping.

I like offensive coaches that cut their chops as an OL coach before being an OC. Tho, when Aggies pursued him, I read up on Grubb. Apparently he’s only been an OC/play caller for 3 years. At his age, that’s surprising. Also, Penix Jr. was a very good prospect/QB, even at Indiana. I will get credit to Grubb for improving Penix’s passing as he was more of a dual threat before.
In all, I’m kinda surprised that Bama offered bc they usually take a guy with more skins on their wall.

Saban has lost the team. He's retiring.
Moving to Texas. Taking a job with ESPN.
He can't compete with NIL. Kirby won all those games.
The decline is real.

If you are looking long term it's complicated.
I think some of the coordinators are trying to calculate whether Dabo would let them go when the change occurs in the next year or two.

Why doesn’t anyone want to come work for Alabama?
Because it’s the only job in America where you can have a top 10 offense and the fans won’t be happy and will want you fired. Just look at Bob. The fans didn’t like him, but he had a top 10 offense in the country every year he was OC. And now he’s gone. The Hc job will be the same way when it opens up. Who will want to follow Saban? No matter how good you do you will never pass Saban at Bama.

It was a meeting/interview. Grubb didn't turn down shite.

That's a sobering thought.
The fan base will most likely be Alabama's ultimate undoing.
You hate it for a proud school like that, but some times it's just inevitable.

Ahh I like this question
1. He has enough interest already to attract HC consideration down the road. He doesn't need the Saban stint to get a HC job. Pure shine and he has no skeletons to rehabilitate
2. Why subject yourself to the fun suck that is Saban if you enjoy what you're doing now?

Up and comers know Saban is washed. Don't want to attach themselves to his sinking ship. Cam Cameron might take a Sabbatical from real estate to relive the old days. Get the old Miami Head Coach boyz together. What stories they could tell.

I mean The Athletic is saying an offer was made and he rejected it. They're usually pretty spot on.
Being turned down isn't nearly as big of a deal as posters on here make it out to be, candidates value different things.

Just a week ago, Bama was getting Kliff as OC, Demarco Ryan as DC? What the flip happened?

" a source with direct knowledge of the situation", really that's what you are hanging your hat on?
Until I hear it from Coach Saban, Coach Grubb, or either University I'm not buying some "source" on Twitter! Especially from a guy who covers the University of Washington!

Do you want Nick Saban conduct a press conference every time he is interviewing a potential candidate and advise whether or not they accepted or declined the position?
Posted on 1/31/23 at 12:23 pm to SidewalkTiger
I don't think it was a big deal. I just know that Saban always interviews several candidates, regardless of who gets the offer. He's always building a portfolio of potential coaching hires for the future.

Alabama fans can’t stand the fact that another coach turned their lord and savior Nick Saban down.

Or perhaps, and just hear me out, he decided he was comfortable at his current job and decided to say no.
It isn't a shocking development and doesn't mean the world is falling. It's ok, I promise.
